Learn the rules and training methods of sumo in a luxurious seating area in Asakusa, watch a demonstration, and then try your hand at sumo. Enjoy an advanced class sumo show in a relaxed atmosphere. Asakusa Sumo Club Annex was established on February 20, 2025 as a high-class branch of the very popular Asakusa Sumo Club. All seats are sofas, and the restaurant offers food and beverages in an atmosphere reminiscent of a high-class Japanese ryotei restaurant. The meal will include an original chanko-nabe (chicken hot pot) supervised by sumo wrestlers, and sukiyaki and tempura made with Japanese A5 rank wagyu beef. (Vegetarian meals are also available.) The beverages will include all-you-can-drink Japanese whiskey, draft beer etc..., and soft drinks. At the Asakusa Sumo Club Annex, we will take you on a deep frive through history and how sumo has evolved throughout the millennia.

My family and I (2 small children) had an unforgettable experience with this group of charismatic and professional staff and performers!! While this is not a real sumo wrestling competition, this is exactly what I expected. This presentation includes an educational portion about the origins of sumo wrestling as a sport, followed by examples of what one might see in a traditional sumo wrestling match. The food is served early on because towards the end of the presentation, there is an interactive experience for a few audience members who volunteer. We chose the lunch time on a weekday and had a private experience which allowed my entire family to dress up and have some fun competing against each other. They took pictures of our experience and printed them for us before we left along with a bag of several nice souvenirs to take with us. Happy we splurged on this experience because it will remain a highlight of our trip!! Note: Take cash in case you wish to tip the wrestlers at the end because you cannot tip with a credit card.

We enjoyed ourselves! The food was good and the show was entertaining. Exactly what we expected and they gave us a souvenir bag with a kimono and a few other items. Fun!

Our family had so much fun!!! It is hilarious and the food was really good! Both my kids (in their early twenties) were pulled (willingly) into the show…it was hysterical!
