Departing from the beach in Tamarindo, you will enjoy a 4.5-hour sail along Costa Rica's spectacular coastline on one of the purpose built catamarans. All are open and spacious allowing passengers to comfortably enjoy the blue water views of the Costa Rican coastline with its pristine beaches and verdant jungles.
Enjoy the view with a cold tropical drink, prepared and served by the crew as you scan the seas for dolphins, sea turtles, flying fish or even a breaching whale. You will also be able to snorkel in the bay or run down the deserted white sand beach while the ever helpful crew prepares a feast of chicken, fruit, chips, pico de gallo, guacamole and homemade chocolate chip cookies. Bring your camera and capture the moment everyone throughout the world talks about when on board.

Upon departing, you will leisurely sail along the Gold Coast enjoying some of the vast, abundant and varied sea life found along our shores. Some of the sea life you hope to encounter includes whales, dolphins, turtles, flying fish, rays and a wide variety of seabirds. If conditions permit, you will also throw a few fishing lines off the back in the hopes of hooking into one of the many game fish that ply our waters. Eventually the catamaran pulls into one of the many secluded bays in the area and you’ll have the opportunity to swim in the warm Costa Rican waters. Life vests, pool noodles, snorkel equipment and stand up paddle boards are available should weather conditions permit. For those passengers not wanting to get wet the catamaran is a great place to relax in the shade of the huge main salon or lounge in the sun on one of the many open deck areas.
Playas del Coco
A light lunch is served at approx. 4:30pm including the following: BBQ Chicken or Pasta Salad, yellow rice, black beans, fresh Fruit Plates, chips (Doritos, Lay’s, Cheetos and Tostitos), fresh made Pico de Gallo and homemade chocolate chip cookies using our Grandma's favorite recipe. This tour also includes a premium open bar, that includes: Soft Drinks: Pepsi, Ginger Ale, 7 Up, Toronja (Fresca), tonic, soda and bottled water. Juices: Orange, mixed fruit juice , cranberry, apple and tomato juice. Beer: Imperial, Miller and Coors Light. Liquor: Flor de Caña Rum, Absolut Vodka, Jack Daniels Whiskey, Tanqueray Gin, Jose Cuervo Tequila and Cacique Guaro. Wine: Frontera Cabernet Sauvignon and Frontera Sauvignon Blanc. Then sail across the bay and back towards your departure point. You'll arrive at port as the sun nears the horizon and the sky explodes into a multitude of colors. Passengers disembark on the sands of Tamarindo or Playa del Coco.

Relaxing and fun way to spend an afternoon

5.00We were worried about the heat with my mom who is older but there was plenty of covered room in the bar area that had a nice breeze to stay cool. Room for about a third of the group to sit at a time. Never had to stand when I didn’t want to. Food was good and guides pointed out wildlife as we went. Overall very pleasant and enjoyable.

5.00This was our first time taking a Catamaran tour in Costa Rica. We loved it and would definitely book this trip with Marlin del Ray again. I tend to get sea sick easily but I couldn't even feel the boat moving, and it was a very windy day when we went. Once arriving to the bay, you had many options: stay on the catamaran, jump off with a pool noodle and swim the short distance to shore, use their snorkeling equipment or get in a boat and they will bring you to shore. It was a nice sandy beach. After that we got to eat. It was a great authentic lunch: chicken, rice, beans, fruit, chips, salsa and cookies. The bar had good drinks as well. There were clean bathrooms on board. The sunset was amazing however the best part of the trip were the whales. We got to watch them our entire trip back. I guess that doesn't always happen but it was a great way to end this great trip.

5.00The meet up and quick boat ride to the catamaran was smooth. Lots of space on the catamaran to find the perfect spot to enjoy the tour. We were fortunate enough to spot a whale on the tour :) Lots of time for snorkeling and floating in the ocean, taking in the gorgeous views of the coastline. Crew was amazing - they put on a yummy and plentiful lunch - open bar was also perfect. The catamaran was clean and the crew worked tirelessly to ensure everyone was taken care of. The views of the sunset don’t miss and certainly a bonus from the water. Certainly recommend this tour.

5.00I took the tour in this boat last year and enjoyed it so much that we went twice on this visit. Impeccable, fun & affordable! The guys were amazing, knowledgeable, fun and attentive. The food was great many drink choices. We enjoyed the ride, the company of the other passengers and staff. Laughing, sharing stories and everyone encouraging others to fully enjoy the trip. We went to a different beach each time and each one was better than the last. I definitely recommend jumping off the boat and snorkeling. Even if you are apprehensive. I did and can’t wait to come back and do it again! Pura Vida!

4.00The catamaran cruise was a fun experience. You take a small motor boat from the shore of the beach to the catamaran. Once on the catamaran, you find a spot and enjoy the beautiful views and ride to the destination beach where you can swim to shore on a lovely sand beach that was very secluded or snorkel to see cool fish! The crew was so nice! They came around and made sure you were comfortable and brought you drinks. We had about 45 mins to explore and snorkel, then boarded the catamaran for lunch. It was marinated grilled chicken with rice and beans with nacho chips and cookies. Edible, but not gourmet by any means. Then we sailed back in time for the sunset. I didn’t like how crowded the boat was. There were not many comfortable places to sit. There are 2 bathrooms aboard, so that was nice and convenient. We also saw whales breaching the surface on the way back which was a fun surprise. If you’re looking for something to do to enjoy the beauty of CR, I would definitely recommend this trip.

5.00This was a lovely afternoon, sailing on the water and having the opportunity to swim in the ocean! The lunch was delicious and the drinks plentiful. Our excursion ended as the sun went down. We got to view a beautiful sunset from the deck.

5.00This is a great way to get out on the water and explore the coast! Highly recommended! Wind in your hair and saltwater spraying at you on the way out, snorkeling at a deserted beach, dinner and a stunning sunset on the way back. The Marlin Del Rey team is amazing, professional but relaxed and fun, and they made it a great experience!
