• A fantastic day trip to Beautiful Nicaragua

  As we were staying in Costa Rica and Nicaragua was only a few hours away, we decided to visit another country. We booked the private tour so it was just the two of us. It was a long day (around 14 hours), but absolutely worth it. We were picked up from our hotel by minibus, with bottled water provided during the two-hour journey to the border. Our first guide didn’t speak much English and we don’t speak Spanish, but we managed fine. He dropped us at border control and sent us a photo of the guide who would meet us on the other side. The border process was very quick and straightforward. Our fantastic guide Manuel was waiting for us at the Nicaraguan side. He explained the plan for the day and took us to a local restaurant for a traditional Nicaraguan breakfast. During the tour we visited Lake Nicaragua, went out on a boat, and fed spider monkeys — which was by far the highlight of the trip. We also visited Granada, Masaya Artisan Market, and Masaya Volcano. It was amazing to see an active volcano, as well as the volcano that now has a lake on top of it. Manuel was extremely knowledgeable, took plenty of photos of us, and nothing was ever too much trouble. I would highly recommend this tour.

  Max was PHENOMINAL! So knowledgeable I learned so much about Nicaragua ! We did this as a day trip from Costa Rica. He made everything go extremely smoothly and really made the best of the time we had ! We saw beautiful views - the active volcano Masaya , Granada, and took a boat ride through the multiple little islands. Both meals were delicious in lovely locations! Max you are a rockstar!   The tour was excellent and the guide Miguielle was informative and was also friendly and entertaining. There were some delays with the border crossing since it was during the peak Christmas days but the tour was still worth it as Nicaragua is different from Costa Rica. The breakfast was good and the food at the included linner (lunch/dinner depending on the time you reach due to the delays with the border) with the tour package was also good enough. However, the only issue we had is the place at where we had lunch/dinner tried to fool us with the drinks by not providing us a menu for the drinks and overcharging. They also ttioed dropping ice on the white wine to cheat with the quantity. This has nothing to do with the tour operator though as the guide interfered when we questioned the issue of getting ice cubes on the wine served on glasses.

  Costa Rican immigration was a nightmare, but Nicaraguan side went really well. It was very well conducted tour . Our breakfast and lunch were arranged at a really nice place. Tour itself The places they picked were really good. The guide miguel was very knowledgeable. One of the best tours we had !

  Awesome day, so sad that the day flew by! Smooth and seamless transfer by David in the morning to the Nicaraguan border, where we were expertly picked up by Elmer and Wilbur. Took us around the locations; Elmer answered all questions and showed us his beautiful country. He also took care of all the logistics to ensure all went according to plan. The food was amazing, as was the volcano and the history/geography facts that Elmer provided. Elmer is very knowledgeable and understanding. On the return to Costa Rica, Jerson picked us up; he was equally as accommodating, letting us stop for dinner and gave me an awesome chance to practice my Spanish! He was incredibly personable and I learned a lot about his family and dog! We had a very good long conversation from the border all the way back to the hotel; the hours flew by! Really grateful for all the guides and drivers, can't wait to come back to Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Pura vida y Deacachimba!

  We spontaneously booked the day trip to Nicaragua and had no expectations. Everything went like clockwork, our driver was totally sweet and the guide Miguel just great! Granada is beautiful and an absolute must-see and the boat trip on Lake Nicaragua just a dream. Everyone, really everyone, who travels to the north of Costa Rica should book this trip! You can't get there on your own anyway and without the help with the really difficult entry we would have given up. Biggest recommendation!

  It is a long day, but well worth it. Bring cash for tips and purchases. So much to see, but lots of driving. We had so much fun at the chocolate factory. The boat ride on Lake Nicaragua was amazing. Miguel our guide was so knowledgable. The carriage ride was fun.
