Our friendly local guides, who specialize in Northern Lights forecasting, use live data every evening to find the best, crowd-free locations, giving you the best chance to see this magical phenomenon.
Wrap yourself in warm Icelandic wool blankets, sip delicious hot chocolate, and savor traditional pastries as the night sky comes alive. Our guides, who are also professional photographers, will capture beautiful photos of you under the lights, delivered straight to your inbox within 8 days, so you can relive the magic.
This isn’t just a tour; it’s a shared story of Icelandic folklore, stargazing, and the untouched beauty of Iceland’s wilderness. If the auroras don’t appear, don’t worry, we’ll invite you back for free. Let us help you create memories you’ll treasure forever!

Please note that the access to restroom facilities out of urban areas is very limited while on the Northern lights tours.
Even with the best of guides and a detailed forecast, sightings are never guaranteed. If we don’t find any lights while on tour, you can join us again another day for free (upon our availability). You will not be entitled to get a refund, though.
A refund is only possible if the tour never operates while you are in Iceland and you never get the chance to join the tour which sometimes happens due to unfavorable weather conditions.
The tour is operated in a minibus and does not exceed more than 19 passengers.
Availability for tour cannot be checked without making a booking. Credit cards will only be charged upon confirmation of shown availability.
This tour takes place at night, please dress up accordingly with warm garments. Bring along a hat, gloves and a scarf. Waterproof clothing is always recommended while touring around Iceland.

Pick-up begins 30 minutes prior to departure time.

If our tour is unsuccessful (Northern Lights not visible), photos will not be delivered.
Due to traffic regulations, tour buses are not permitted to drive or stop in certain city areas and may only stop at designated locations. If your hotel isn't on our list, or if you're uncertain about where to meet us for pickup, please email us.

First off, you will start your hunt for the Northern Lights with a bit of planning via the Aurora forecast and start your exploration by heading towards the selected location. You might drive for up to one hour to reach a good spot and perhaps wait for the lights to appear. At this point, we take out the hot chocolate and Icelandic pastries. We also have Icelandic wool blankets on board to keep you warm while standing outside. There may be the decision of changing spots, by interacting with other locals as there are many different people outside looking for lights every night. We do this to increase the possibilities of finding Northern Lights. If there are no northern lights while on tour, you get to try again for free (upon availability). By traveling in a minibus you get the quality of a small group of no more than 19 people, as crowds are being avoided in order to get to the best spot available.

5.00We enjoyed this experience on 4 December 2025. Our driver and guide, Michaela, did a wonderful job for us. We were fortunate enough to see the Northern Lights on our way home. It was amazing to finish the evening experiencing this wonderful natural event. Thank you Michaela for going out of your way in order for us to tick off a bucket list item.

1.00Don't pay for this scam. These people assure you that you'll see the Northern Lights for money and it's all fake. They make you pay a lot of money to stumble around with the bus dying of cold and seeing nothing. They know that days we won't see anything and they don't even warn you, yet they sell it to you. The first driver we had was very crazy, he was driving fatally like a kamikaze standing in the middle of the road, making curves on the road, etc... We drove for hours with a crazy man behind the wheel frozen cold and we came back at so many at night. And the next night too. Mo let them fool you and do not buy this activity.

5.00This is my third tour with Eastwest and they've been great every time. However, this tour ended up being something special. Devin K. was our guide and he was an absolutely stellar person to spend a few hours with chasing the lights. He had the right balance of humor, information, and timing that makes for an excellent guide. On top of that, he ordered up a spectacular northern lights show just for us! (Haha, not really. We just got super lucky to see what we saw, but Devin did rate it a 9.5 for the display, so I have zero regrets giving him credit for having us in the right place at the right time.) I think the best part was the excitement Devin showed. He was as giddy as the group was as we cheered along to one of the universe's most magical experiences. I will continue to do tours with Eastwest when I'm in Iceland and its the first company I recommend to anyone who visits.

The guides really are creatures of the night — they take their time, they know exactly what to look for, and they create a calm, unhurried atmosphere that makes the whole evening special. The hot chocolate was delicious and genuinely warm, and the Icelandic traditional blankets were a lovely and unexpected touch. Our guide, Al, was fantastic: patient, perseverant, and determined to find the best possible viewing spot for the group. He took great care with photos too, making sure everyone left with a souvenir of the moment. A beautiful night out in Iceland, and a very professional team. Highly recommended.

5.00We went as a couple on this excursion, our guide was michaela, this woman is passionate and very kind. Unfortunately we were unlucky and we did not see any aurora borealis but despite this michaela made sure that the moment was the most fun and enjoyable with some night photography class and some funny souvenir photo. The hot chocolate was very good. again thank you michaela for your kindness the little couple of Swiss

5.00Had a wonderful experience with East West for the northern lights tour. Our guide, Devin, was super knowledgeable and engaging. We saw the lights and Devin captured some amazing pictures. The smaller group also made it a good experience. Definitely layer up for the cold - it will be colder than it is in the city!

5.00Devin our tour guide was amazing and provided a brilliant monologue for the evening. After 4 hours of driving without spotting any activity Devin did not give up and we found an amazing spot at 1:30am 20 minutes outside Reykjavík!!! What a night thank you Devin.

5.00As first-time visitors to Iceland a Northern Lights tour was clearly part of our agenda, and EastWest put together a faultless program from start to finish. Easy pickup at the bus stop, then immediately on our way 45 minutes out of town. Our guide, with 9 years on the job, provided stories about Iceland and its lights plus a soundtrack if local artists before we watched a brilliant display. Be sure to pack warm clothes, though wool blankets are offered, and when the lights begin strike a pose for some wonderful professional photos!
