Fantastic experience. We went to the market and our chef so was patient answering all our questions. We then returned to his kitchen and made the best food! Probably the best experience we've had in Japan yet!

The cooking class and market shopping was a great and unique addition to our trip. Shohei is a fantastic host and teacher, was very careful about food allergies, and we have new skills and excellent recipes to bring home!

We had a very enjoyable afternoon with Masato-san und Chi-san - involving cooking delectable Miso soup and making our own sushi rolls. Both the chefs were very patient and friendly during class. Their teaching was enriched by lots of banter but also trivia and stories revolving around Japan and Osaka, making it a memorable experience. We would like to thank the Samurai Cooks for the opportunity to learn a little bit more about Japanese cuisine and culture.

We learned a lot about Japanese culture while cooking three separate dishes and miso soup. Samurai Max is the perfect host. He contacted us ahead of time for preferences and made sure we had no allergy issues. By explaining the seasonings and sauces we will be able to replicated what we learned. We had teens that he engaged throughout the process, making it fun for them. His cooking studio is close to other major activities and we did a photo shoot with another vendor after to complete the evening. He went the extra mile to make sure my son got what he wanted at nearby market too!

My teenage daughters and I had a lovely time learning to cook five different dishes with Yoshiko. She picked us up from her local train station, took us to the local grocery store and then we headed to her home. She was well prepped for us to make the most of the time we had to learn how to prepare five different dishes; chicken teriyaki, rolled egg omelet, tofu gratin, wakame/ cucumber/ spinach salad, salmon with steamed veggies, teriyaki chicken. We also had rice, miso soup, tea, and kirin. She was such a sweet lady and took the time to speak with my daughter who is learning and trying to use Japanese while she is here. I’d highly recommend Yoshiko’s mother’s taste cooking class if you want to learn how to make a home cooked meal. It was a lot of delicious food, so come hungry. Mahalo nui loa Yoshiko for your hospitality, we enjoyed the experience!
