This experience does not take place in a tourist kitchen, but in my private home in Palermo. It is not a show: it is real cuisine, with authentic recipes of Sicilian cuisine, local ingredients and the atmosphere of a royal family. For thirty years I worked in haute cuisine in different parts of the world, passing through the most prestigious starred restaurants. I was the Chef of National TV Shows (Rai 1) and author of two cookbooks. I chose to go back to the roots and open the doors of my home to those who want to experience Sicily, not just taste it. Every dish tells a story, every gesture has a value: here you cook, eat, talk, laugh. It is an experience that also nourishes memory. You will not find scripts or fiction, but spontaneity and warmth, just like at the home of a Sicilian friend. I'll teach you what you don't find in books: perfumes, slow tempos, dialect words, hands stained with dough. For a few hours, you will really immerse yourself in Sicilian culture.

You will have the opportunity to learn all the secrets of Sicilian cuisine from Andrea Matranga a renowned Italian chef. Together, we will prepare a seasonal Sicilian menu : we will start with an appetizer, we will continue with a first course, a second course and a dessert, which we will then enjoy together, comfortably seated in my dining room. All accompanied by an excellent local wine. The lesson will take place in my apartment, located in a residential area of Palermo. + + + IMPORTANT NOTE: THIS LESSON TAKES PLACE IN MY PRIVATE HOME. TO ENSURE YOUR SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF ALL (GIVEN THE USE OF PROFESSIONAL KNIVES AND FLAMES), IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN TO PRESENT YOURSELF ALREADY IN A STATE OF ALTERATION. LOCAL WINE WILL BE SERVED AND SAVOURED EXCLUSIVELY DURING THE MEAL, AS PART OF THE CONVIVIAL EXPERIENCE. The evening with Andrea and his family was amazing .... we were a group of 4 in total, 2 solo travellers and a couple, and had a wonderful long evening of delicious food and good company. We learned so much about Sicilian cooking ... the story behind the ingredients and the right way to cook them .... all in all, a fabulous evening. I highly recommend!

Four of us came to Palermo for a few days and Andrea’s class was undoubtedly the highlight. Wow! He brought energy, education, information, enthusiasm, laugh, smiles, all the trimmings. Andrea, his daughter, and wife are all wonderful people. The class/cooking experience had a nice flow and structure to it. We made typical dishes of the season. Andrea is a true professional. His interesting life aside, this man knows cooking. We learned about when makes Sicilian ingredients unique, the proper ways to prepare things…. Essentially the “why” behind it. All while laughing and throwing high-fives. Our family had a time we will never forget

It was a really nice experience with andrea and his family and after i ate the same dishes in restaurants, i know that i made a much better and more delicious Version of it with Andreas help and o learned how i can make it at home. Very much recommend this experience

Our evening with Andrea and his family was excellent, from start to finish! When he says that his guests are treated like family, he is not exaggerating. We were so touched by the genuine warmth and welcoming from Andrea and Alessandra, and their daughter Manuela (who also helped with translating). All the food was absolutely delicious, with helpful cooking tips and instructions, as well as information about many of the Sicilian ingredients and dishes. We loved sitting together and enjoying our amazing meal with Andrea and his family. We would highly recommend this experience, and really hope to repeat it again someday ourselves!

Andrea and his wife welcomed us to their home and made us feel comfortable from the start. Andrea was wonderful. He clearly loves his work and loves teaching his craft. It's a hands on class and we made 4 courses. First was caponata. We chopped the ingredients and learned his gentle sauting technique. It was great. Next was Pasta alla Norma. His secret is to use canned whole San Marzano tomatoes that are then spoon crushed in the pan to avoid breaking the seeds. Next was pork involtini. We make the filling and learned how to properly roll the pork around the filling. The final course was canoli. We made the dough and then learned the technique for frying the shell so it had the traditional look. Dinner was served and we felt like we were part of his family. A unique feature of his classes is that he has made YouTube videos for each of the dishes so you have not just the ingredients but also a refresher on the techniques. Highly recommend. Great introduction to Sicilian food culture.

A cooking class with Andrea was an important part of our Christmas trip to Palermo with my daughter and her husband. Before we left for Sicily I had reached out to Andrea for some advice about specific venues around Palermo and he generously took the time to reply. The entire experience became much more than I had anticipated. Andrea, together with his wife and daughter welcomed us into their home for a warm holiday evening. During the well-planned lesson we learned specific cooking techniques and recipes by preparing several dishes under his watchful eye. The result was a delicious and ample meal that we all shared along with copious amounts of wine and stories. When we left late in the evening we parted as good friends. I highly recommend the experience.

Andrea is an incredible person, and this cooking class was truly one of the highlights of my trip! I was a little nervous going alone, but from the moment I arrived, Andrea and his family made me feel completely at home. This is not just a cooking class—it feels like learning to cook with a parent in a warm, loving family environment. If you’re in Palermo, this is an absolute must-do experience! Their hospitality is beyond amazing, and you’ll be blown away by how welcoming they are. I even had some dietary restrictions that I could only mention at the very last minute, and Andrea went out of his way to make sure I didn’t miss out on anything. I couldn’t recommend this experience more—it was unforgettable!
