Overall a fabulous experience. Halong bay is worthwhile! Only 4 stars because the paradise sail boat was old and the staff and tour guides did not speak English well enough ( except for the manager) I was hoping to enjoy the beauty of the orange sails but they were up only 1 short hour per day as we were anchored! We indulged in the 2 nights/3 days which allowed to escape the crowd on day 2 as we cruised further away to a site ( fisherman village and fossil cave ) where we were the only ones. The food was excellent on day 2. Was it worth $950 for 2 … maybe not but it was my birthday and Halong bay is only once in a life time. Some backpackers on the boat bought their ticket the day of departure at the marina at a great discount. The paradise line has 2 other boats looking better called paradise elegance, their upper deck is longer and they had music and dancing in the evening.

Such an amazing place to experience- words don't do it justice. The boat and staff were first class right from hotel pick up through to drop off, everything was Donne with guests in mind. I am vegan and the chef prepared separate food for me and seemed to delight in my pleasure with what was presented. Met some wonderful people, went to some wonderful places- can't recommend it enough!
