Tie on your apron and enter the kitchen to make your way to your workstation, where you will master the art of the region’s most famous pasta dishes and tiramisu. 1.00There are many other cooking classes to choose from. Do not choose this one! It was in a dirty restaurant portion of a kid’s entertainment complex, half hour drive from the pickup place. The place was dirty, the aprons stank and were unclean. The cooking lesson was perfunctory and basically involved spooning premade tiramisu into a glass, and preparing pasta in a 10 minute procedure, using unclean pasta machines. As a result the pasta, both ravioli and noodles, were mushy and barely edible. The red sauce tasted bottled or canned. The tiramisu was watery, with no structure or substance. We were not asked to wash our hands before preparing food, and afterwards we all lined up at a single restroom sink to wash our hands with cold water and a hand blower that stank of urine. When we were done we were summarily dismissed to pile into two vans for the half hour drive back, where we were dumped in a restaurant parking lot. The other people in the class were delightful and we had a lovely time as a group, but the culinary aspect of the experience was embarrassingly sub par. In the two weeks we have been in Italy, including another cooking class that rates five stars from us, this was the first experience that did not exceed expectations and was in fact quite disappointing.

5.00The instructor was attentive and demonstrated what we were to do. Very hands on and well organized. Class size (9) was the right size. Getting to eat what we made was a pleasure.
