Kuo, our guide, was a wonderful ambassador for the area. She knows the area and is a real booster for the businesses there. She was very personable. The food was interesting and delicious. Especially loved the oxtail at Jam Rock I appreciated the impromptu stop at the grocery store, esp with someone who knows so much about the items there, many of which I did know. Will definitely recommend this tour!

A wonderful experience and a part of town I would never normally see. Our guide was charming, told us the history of the neighborhood and introduced us to the owners of some of the restaurants . I think my favorite place was JamRock. Omar made the most delicious oxtail I’ve ever had, serving it on a bed of cabbage and plantains. Delicious! I’ll be back! Loved this tour. I need to do more!

The food on this tour is delicious and it gives a great overview of a neighborhood that isn't often in the spotlight! The portion sizes are large and we got a ton of food for the price. Our tour guide was great and from the neighborhood. It was a great day and I highly recommend others check out the tour! One thing that should be noted is that not all of the food is African. The tour highlights the diversity in the neighborhood and the cuisine (Southern, Italian, etc) reflects that.

The whole WeVenture Philadelphia team was amazing! They did a great job ensuring our tours met our expectations. The food was delicious and the little known facts about the city were exactly what we were looking for. Thank you all for your hard work and dedication to showing off the beauty the city of brotherly love has to offer.

The Africatown Walking Food Tour was tremendous. My wife and I enjoyed ourselves and we plan to do it again! Our first stop was at forty-five year old Simply Good Food, located at 5741 woodland Avenue where we had a fantastic meal with a southern United States taste and great hospitality. Our next stop was Jam Roc at 6155 Woodland Avenue where I could not resist the oxtail and rice and peas. It was a pleasure meeting the owner, fellow Jamaican Omar. We then went over to Oteri's Italian Bakery at 6323 Woodland Avenue which has been around for 120+ years. If you go, please try the cannoli; it is that good. We closed out our tour at Africa Small Pot at 6133 Woodland Avenue where owner and master chef, Mr. Abdarahmane Diop served us a fantastic African meal. My favorite was their sorrell which I grew up drinking in Jamaica. Put on your best walking shoes, go with a strong appetite and enjoy!

The Philadelphia Africatown Walking Food Tour was an enriching experience! The cuisine was delicious, ACANA's attention to detail regarding restaurant selection was well done and the neighborhood history shared throughout the tour was very informative. I highly recommend to others!

Wonderful food at all restaurants, definitely a worthwhile experience! A great mix of flavors with Southern cuisine, Jamaican oxtail flavors, jollof rice and mouthwatering chicken, and of course a classic cannoli! Getting to hear from local tour guides as well as the owners of these restaurants was a pleasure. Worth a visit to Africatown!
