Exploring nature is always an adventure, and even more so if you do it in places that are truly spectacular. In the city of Puerto Plata, one of the best-known towns in the Dominican Republic, is one of these tropical paradise that any visitor will fall in love with: the Isabel de Torres National Park. The beauty of its landscapes and impressive biodiversity make this park an ideal destination for tourists who love nature and adventure. Some of the activities it offers are observing its endemic flora and fauna, walking along its trails or visiting the majestic statue of Christ the Redeemer, which has nothing to envy of the one in Brazil. Since the cable car is out of service 'cause of renovation the administration has decided to take its customers to the top of mount Isabel de torres by 4x4 truck.
Christ the Redeemer In Puerto Plata you can enjoy a very popular giant statue, called Christ the Redeemer of the Dominican Republic, which is located on the famous Isabel de Torres mountain in this city, a place from where you can enjoy excellent views from this place that can be reached thanks to a cable car to make the climb. It was built in 1970 and was installed on this mountain at the foot of the city of Puerto Plata, becoming one of the most representative icons for visitors. It was a gift from Brazil, a donation that has become a prominent monument in the Dominican Republic for Dominicans and tourists.

5.00We had an awesome time. Our tour guide - Diome - was always helpful - from beginning to end, and is highly recommended. I quite enjoyed the journey to Mt Isabel with the beautiful views. I thoroughly enjoyed Puerto Plata.

4.00The Isabella mountain view/experience was exceptional. The middle part of the excursion walking the beach area was so so at best. The last third of the excursion in the city center was very good.

4.00Let me say first that my guide, Fabio, was too wonderful for words. He was knowledgeable and engaging, and took great care of me as a solo female traveler. He provided healthy snacks and water during the trip. He told me which overpriced shops to avoid, and allowed me to tailor the itinerary to my interests. So FIVE stars for Fabio and the "city" portion of my tour! Sadly, the "mountain" portion of my outing was only a TWO. First I was handed off to a different guide in a rugged safari truck. The ride was scenic, and I enjoyed seeing real people engaged in daily life, but it was very slow. Once at the top, we only had time for some quick pictures, and then my new guide pushed me to the gift shop and a fake village where I expected to tip the musicians playing there. There was NO time to wander the lovely pathways through the park, which was my whole reason for going. If I had it to do again, I would still take the city tour with this company. (Ask for Fabio!) But I would hire a taxi to take me up the mountain and see the park on my own, with time for hiking.

5.00Juan Carlos was an excellent tour guide. He was personable, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about sharing the rich cultural history of Puerto Plata. He was patient and flexible with us as well. I would highly recommend this tour company.

5.00Low key small group is perfect instead of the massive cruise ship tours. This gentleman made it feel like a private tour for the four of us or this vehicle would fit six.

5.00Had a wonderful day with my Guide Julian in Puerto Plata. There was another couple with us for part of the tour and then we connected with more people for the trip Mount Isabel. The tour gave a perfect overview of the city and the must-see sites. As someone who is not interested in going to eat at tourist traps, I always offer to take the guide for lunch but it has to be a place where they eat as I want authentic cooking. I was not disappointed. The food was plentiful, tasty and low-cost. I enjoyed having lunch with the guide and learning more about them and the city that you doint get sitting on a bus. Great experience!!
