It was about an hour's drive to get there, but boy, was it worth it!!! It was interesting to learn about how chocolate is made and taste the chocolate seeds. The freshly ground chocolate with cinnamon was so good. But Monkeyland was the absolute best part. I couldn't stop smiling as monkeys were eating out of our hands, and jumping on our shoulders and our heads. They are absolutely adorable and being able to have them actually sit on us and eat was so much fun. Pick-up at the hotel was on time, the driver and tour guide were good, the guides at Monkeyland were funny and engaging and the monkeys themselves were amazing! This one will go down as one of the best memories for myself and my son.

Monkeys were great, several feeds so you get to touch them several times. Coffee and cocoa bean tour with sampling, best cocoa we’ve ever had.

It was a fun half day trip. The safari type truck is fun and a good view as you drive through small villages and towns. Our tour guide Rudy was smart, funny, and knew everything about the Dominican, US and Canada. The first stop shows how they make coffee, chocolate, etc. We got a presentation, small taste and then a shop to purchase. Monkey land was so good and tons of cut monkeys jumping all over. I thought it would be a walking course. But it's only a section where groups of about 10 or so are taken. You get a bowl and the lady keeps dropping food into it. Monkeys go crazy and snack while sitting on your arms or head. It's only about 20 minutes or so but I took lots of photos and video. Wish I could have stayed longer or walked through the preserve. They take pictures and sell for 40 dollars but I didn't purchase. They were professional so I considered it but decided my own were good enough.

Be prepared for the monkeys to climb on you! It was so much fun! The guides are very knowledgeable and work hard to take good care of the monkeys. The coffee plantation very cool as well.

The drive to and from offered us a great opportunity to get to know more of Dominican Republic, our bus driver (Candyman) was wonderful and shared some interesting fact along the way. The plantation area was beautiful, and the spider monkeys were so cute! Wear a hat and shirt you don’t mind getting dirty, expect to be jumped on and eaten on, etc :) The coffee and hot cocoa samples were tasty too! So glad we took this excursion!!
