Truly a once in a lifetime experience trekking with Sue and staying with her lovely family. Sue is an experienced and enthusiastic guide with great English that all the other trekking guides seem to really look up to! She knows everyone in the villages :) We trekked through a number of hill tribe villages and learned so much about the Hmong people, ate hearty food sourced from local produce (and which Sue very kindly made sure was plant-based for us), and saw the most stunning views. The homestay was very comfortable with beautiful rustic Hmong decor. We were really pleased that a mosquito net was provided above the bed. One thing to note is that there are lots of animals at the home stay (and in all the villages) - we thought this was great. Make sure to bring good shoes and swimming gear. I brought running shoes and they were not good enough! Whilst the terrain is not difficult, it could be challenging and sloppy depending on the weather unless you have good hiking shoes. I’d also recommend bringing waterproofs, a good covering hat, and lots of sunscreen. Thanks again, Sue!

Great stay! His family took good care of us. The scenery is beautiful and his homestay is great with views of the rice fields.

My guide Mai from Indigo Snail was perfect! She is young but knows so much. Her English is perfect and she wants to learn many things! :) Our weather in March was very cold and cloudy. We didn't see to much. Trip was still great and I enjoyed the bamboo forest. I was alone on the tour but in March I have seen many solo tours around Sapa.

Overall we did enjoy the experience, but there were some hiccups in the process. I confirmed our trek and pick-up from our hotel prior, once a few months ahead, second time a few days before the trek, directly with Sue. The night before the set date, we again agreed to meet at 8:30 at our hotel.. In the morning, Sue texted us that she is busy and will send another guide for us. That would be okay. What is not okay is to leave us wait in the rain for an hour, not responding to messages except for one confusing voice message which I didn't understand. And then calling us to tell us that the guide is waiting for us on the other side of the city. After another 15 minutes a woman showed up, confused why are we carrying such a big backpacks. It might be cause the included Luggage storage written in the description of this product. After some discussion and more phone calls our 3 bags were taken away on a motorbike by some guy. Weird, but okay. After that we finally started our trek. The guide overall was good, she was nice, gave us a lot of information, lead us through interesting places. It was rainy that day so the path was very muddy and slippery, but we managed. On the way another young woman joined us, and when we asked who she is the guide informed us she wants to show us some products later. At first we though how nice it is from her to be helping us cross the difificult paths on the way, but she really just wanted us to buy something from her during our lunch, and when we said we didn't want anything, she was really dissapointed and left without a word. During lunch different women kept approaching us and tried to sell us their goods, which was just annoying. We felt like we were in a tourist trap. And this kept happening to us during our whole trek, women trying to help you, talk to you, just to make you feel like you have to buy something from them. I do wish the guides tried to protect their guests from this, because it really damages the whole experience. The Indigo homestay was good, dinner tasty and breakfast tasty. Just the hot water wasn't really working in our room. What we really liked was when on our way we were invited to celebrate the new year with the locals in their home. We drank and ate with them and it was so interesting to see their habits and traditions up close. Next day we continued the trek with Sue. Altough it was supposed be just the two of us, another two guests of the homestay joined us that day. This we didn't mind, since we got to know them the night before and they were quite nice. We trekked through the bamboo forest, to the waterfall.. Sometimes the tempo was a bit slow, especially when the guide(s) were often looking at their phones and then walked really slowly. At the end, another little thing that set us off was when the guide couldn't even find our reservation on tripadvisor. It just shows that there is some space for improvements when it comes to organisation. So I would say in the end our experience was positive as a whole, but some things could have been handled better.

An amazing 2-day trek and homestay in Sapa! We immersed ourselves in the culture, stunning scenery, and local life. Our guide, Miy, was exceptional—her English was excellent, and she provided a thorough understanding of Sapa's culture and history. The landscape was breathtaking, but it was Miy's passion and knowledge that made the experience truly special. She was welcoming, patient, and customised the tour, sharing fascinating stories throughout. Highly recommend!

We had out trekking with Mai, the daughter of Sue and it was absolutely amazing! She told us a lot about her culture, the other indigenous villages, plants and animals on the ways, and so on. Her English is very good and she can help you with everything. We loved her. The route was beautifull and we were given options on shortcuts or harder, but more beautiful roads. It was zo amazing! In the evening we stayed at the family house. The family is very welcoming and it is lovely to see the house, the children playing and the life there. The food (and happy water) were delicious. The second day we also got to see more houses, the bamboo forest and Mai's own house. Mai and family, thank you so much for the experience!

My partner and I had the most wonderful two days trekking and 1 night with this beautiful family. We felt so welcomed and comfortable in their lovely homestay. The room was gorgeous, with lovely traditional bedcovers and decorations and a modern bathroom with hot shower. The evening meal was delicious and we got to share it with all of Su's family which was lovely. We also spend two days trekking with Sung, which was an absolutely unforgettably beautiful experience! Such a lovely family and we would definitely recommend them! ❤️

What an amazing family to have experienced trekking in Sapa with ! May and her mother were absolutely wonderful tour guides, and treated us to the most wonderful bungalow and home cooked food. They were so sweet and were also there to help no matter what we needed, and taught us so much about the mountains and their customs. They even gave us a bag of rice to take home with us at the end because we told them how much we had enjoyed it. Thank you to the whole family !

We stayed 1 night and it was a fantastic experience in an extremely characteristic context. Mrs Sue hosted us with affection and care and always made sure we had everything we needed. The location is remote and suitable for a Spartan experience. The beds are comfortable and spacious, and despite the cold of the place in February, the blankets are heavy and warm. Breakfast is mainly banana-based but it is plentiful. There are numerous bathrooms, all well stocked and functioning, and all other services are present. We spent two days and in both of them Sue took us trekking among the rice fields. I strongly recommend this experience and look forward to seeing Sue again in the future.
