Experience the traditional Japanese martial art of kendo in eastside of Hokkaido. Experienced instructors with 25 years of kendo experience and having competed in national tournaments will guide you carefully so that even beginners can learn with ease.

On this tour, you will enjoy the valuable experience of training your body and mind while learning the basic techniques and spirit of kendo. In addition, if you want high-intensity exercises I can arrange the program, such as 100 times continuous striking or use of heavy sword.

Takeru, the instructor, will give you a short lecture on the Japanese “do” culture including kendo. He will also share how great kendo is. After the workshop, you’ll have a bamboo sword and know the basic kendo movements. In the end you’ll strike instructor’s armor. Upon completing the workshop, please enjoy taking photos with bamboo sword. *Up to 2 people can wear kendo protectors. If you want, please tell me while booking!

I have never done Kendo before. Trying it for the first time was an amazing experience. Takeru was a great at teaching me not only the techniques but also some of the history and common practices behind it. I highly recommend for all!!!

This was genuinely a great experience. Takeru was fun and engaging and gave us a real lesson of Kendo. Our family had a “showdown” that was really fun. Yahhhhh!

I had a fantastic time with Takeru learning kendo and then putting it into practice. The venue is an interesting place to see, with areas for each practice set out from one another. The lesson was well structured and varied, we moved at a pace I enjoyed and I certainly learned a lot in a short time. Takeru is a good teacher and his English is excellent, I'd thoroughly recommend to anyone who is interested in giving kendo a go or honing their skills!

We tried Kendo for the first time today and it was an awesome experience! My wife and kids ( 12 and 14 yo) all enjoyed it and the instructor was very nice and a master of this craft. You really appreciate the nuances of this martial art and the speed and beauty of it once you have tried it. I’d highly recommend it for everyone (younger, older, athlete or non-athlete). Takeru speaks great English and as a bonus we met his wife and daughter, really great people!
