Enjoy a small-group (15 guests maximum) deep dive into all things Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil! Led by a veteran journalist and long-time downtown Savannah resident, the two-hour tour provides the back-stories and up-close-and-personal insights into author John Berendt's book, director Clint Eastwood's movie of the same name, and the rich Savannah history surrounding them both. You'll stop at several sites where the story unfolds, including the Hamilton-Turner Inn, Clary’s Cafe, and Mercer-Williams House; you'll also get the scoop on the story's unique array of characters, from Jim Williams to Minerva to Joe Odom to Nancy Hillis to Moe Fetzer -- and everyone in between!

Introduction to Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil's main character, Jim Williams, and an outside look at what is probably his most high-profile Savannah project - the Olde Pink House Restaurant and Tavern. We also introduce Minerva, the voodoo priestess and member of his defense team.
Johnson Square
We stop here to talk about Johnny Mercer and the Midnight movie soundtrack, and why director Clint Eastwood thought it was important to have a movie soundtrack that was 100 percent Johnny Mercer music.

5.00Martin was an excellent tour guide. We could all hear him and he moved at a good pace for the entire group. The break at Parker’s in the middle to get a drink, snack and potty was perfect. I recommend him to anyone interested in the book. We have done a 4 hour Savannah walking tour before but this was very informative

4.00Very interesting and informative tour about the ins and outs of the characters of the book and movie. I would suggest going in the morning first thing if possible. Quite a bit of walking and standing. Tour guide was great!

5.00Really fascinating tour - definitely recommend reading the book and seeing the movie before the tour to get the full experience, but he gave so much information that you would be able to enjoy it if you had or hadn't. Great mix of Savannah history and insights into the community, background on the book, additional info about the real and fictionalized characters, and how the film differs from the real events. We had a great time.

5.00Our tour was absolutely Fabulous! After reading the book twice and seeing the movie multiple times, I was amazed by all the incredible facts of the story. Our guide had so much insight to the story and history of Savannah. My favorite part of the trip!
