Park and National Palace of Pena

Start your tour with the journey to Sintra. Visit Pena Park, where you will be amazed by the variety of trails, trees and other plants. Next, feel like Portuguese royalty as you enter the romantic Pena National Palace at the top of Sintra Mountain. See the Great Triton, the guardian of the palace, inspired by Manueline art. Inside the palace, admire the attention to detail in the bedrooms of the king and queen and the Arab Room. Pena Palace tickets and guided visit are included only if option "Tickets Park & Palace Included" is selected. Pena Park tickets are are included only if options "Tickets Park & Palace Included" or "Tickets Pena Park Included" are selected.

Centro Historico de Sintra

Leave the palace and follow your guide to the historical center of Sintra, where you’ll have free time to explore the town, you can visit the Sintra National Palace on your own, where the Portuguese royalty of the 15th and 16th centuries used to spend the summer months (own expense) or have a drink and a snack (own expense). Try a travesseiro or a queijada, two delicious local pastries.

This was a great way to see Sintra and Cascais. Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny which made the whole trip that much better

This was a great sight-seeing day out that covered a lot. Pick-up was simple and on time. My host, Bernardos, was friendly and knowledgable, offering additional insight and answering any relevant questions. The trip covered a lot and seemed good value for money, with entry to Pena Palace included in my ticket. That being said, the trip felt rushed in places which took away some of the splendour of such a wonderful area. Only around an hour was offered in the town of Sintra which minimised the possibility to see some of the major sights surrounding the town. This includes the Quinta de Regaleira which is €20 entry. With only ~30mins to explore this sight, I decided not to enter. I felt the same when we arrived in Cascais. On arrival (just before 2pm) I was starving and so spent around an hour at a local restaurant. The food was excellent as per my guide’s recommendation although that left only 30mins to explore such a beautiful seaside town. It simply wasn’t enough time. Overall the trip included some major highlights but focused on the Pena Palace, with other attractions accessible only briefly. I would say this is an excellent trip if you’re looking for a (very) quick stop at some of the sights but not if you wish to explore the area in more detail or have any sort of freedom to wander. If I was to do a similar trip again, I would prefer to go to Sintra OR Cascais only for a full day.

We had a wonderful tour of Sintra, Cascais, and the most western point of Europe. We met outside the Hard rock Cafe which was very convenient to where we were staying. There were a bunch of people meeting there and then we were broken into smaller groups of 5-8 people. Our tour group had 7. We rode in a nice Mercedes van and Alberto gave us a lot of history and info about Lisbon and Portugal along our drive. Our first stop was the Pena Palace in Sintra (the van parks and you walk up a fairly steep hill. There is an option for a few Euros of riding a van to the top. The walk was maybe 10 minutes, we walked), then the village of Sintra, next the lighthouse stop, and finally Cascais. We enjoyed them all! The tour was great and we would highly recommend!!

Great guide, the excursion is frankly top and pleasant in good weather. We just wish we'd stayed a little more in sintra, but otherwise it was great

Thank you to our tour guide, Benny! This was a well organised tour with only a small group of 8 people. Benny was knowledgeable about the history of the area and buildings. He was good at presenting and had interesting stories and travel tips/advice to share. A great day!
