Join us for a once-in-a-lifetime, family friendly experience as we guide you inside Castner Ice Cave in the heart of one of Alaska's famed glaciers! We will drive from Fairbanks, passing open tundra with herds of caribou, the Trans-Alaskan pipeline, and on clear days see the stunning Alaska Range.
Once we arrive at the glacier area we will gear up with snowshoes or ice cleats for your boots before heading out on a guided 1.5 mile hike to the Ice Cave! Please note that the hike itself is rather flat and easy-going, however extreme cold temperatures can make things difficult. Please come prepared!
We will learn about the history of glaciers in Alaska, geology, local history, and much more as we embark to the glacier. This will no doubt be an adventure to bring home and tell your friends and family about!

Our starting point is in Fairbanks, AK. Travel south for the journey to the Ice Cave.
After gearing up at the trailhead, we step onto the glacier and begin our hike, trekking a little over a mile across the ice to reach the cave.

5.00Amazing, beautiful. The hike to the glacier was gorgeous. Cave within was so fascinating and stunning. Our guide Matthew was so knowledgeable, made the tour so fun. Highly recommend!!!

5.00If I could give this 10 stars I would. The entire experience was amazing. Our guide Owen was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He shared a lot of knowledge about the area and the ice cave and also took some incredible photos for us! I would absolutely do this tour again if I come back to Fairbanks!

5.00We had a great experience hiking Castner Glacier with Kody and Owen. They are the very best and know their job. My wife and I were very skeptical with the hike but Owen and Kody took good care of us assuring the safety. They stopped for locating Moose and Caribou and some of the brilliant landscape pics of Mt Donneli. Breathtaking views and once in a lifetime experience made it easy by Kody and Owen. They took some amazing photos of us. Very knowledgeable. Absolutely awesome experience.

2.001. Guide was late and unreachable The guide arrived late and did not answer phone calls prior to pickup, causing uncertainty and concern before the tour even began. 2. Lack of communication and guidance Throughout the hike, the guide barely communicated with guests and provided no explanation or educational information about the ice cave, glacier conditions, or safety considerations, despite this being a guided tour. 3. Serious safety incident due to poor group management On the way to and from the ice cave, the guide allowed the group to become extremely spread out and failed to monitor the guests at the back. As a result, a guest at the end of the group stepped fully into a concealed ice hole. Even more concerning, their calls for help were not immediately noticed, highlighting a dangerous lack of supervision. 4. Advertised amenities not properly provided The tour description stated that water and snacks would be provided. However, the guide did not proactively offer them and only admitted to “forgetting” after we asked, then purchased items temporarily during the tour. 5. Significant delay beyond scheduled duration The tour was scheduled to start at approximately 8:30 AM and last around 8 hours. The actual return time was delayed by approximately 1.5 hours, with no clear explanation or communication. I believe not all of their guides are as bad as this one. At least when we arrive the cave, I saw the other guide from this vendor was very nice and sharing knowledge of the ice cave and even guided them inside the cave. Compared to our guild just tell us “you are free to walk into the cave” without any safety warning about slippery ice ground and never with us inside the cave. Overall, I feel what I paid is just for the round shuttle trip to the ice cave without any safety concerns I was expecting to have from a guided tour. Attached pictures are showing who our guide is and how far away the our guide is from us both towards and from the ice cave after we ask him several times to slow down.

5.00⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had an incredible experience on the Fairbanks Castner Glacier Ice Cave tour led by Matt and Josh. They truly went above and beyond in every possible way. A day earlier, 25 mph winds had completely erased the trail, but Matt and Josh confidently guided us even when there was no clear path to follow. Despite extremely inclement conditions (around -26°C), they kept the tour going safely and professionally, never once making us feel rushed or uneasy. They patiently helped us put on our snowshoes, repeatedly checked and re-secured the laces as we trekked through nearly 3 feet of snow, and even came prepared with extra socks when my daughter’s socks became soaked after snow got into her boots. That level of care and preparedness meant so much to us. To top it off, when our car unexpectedly ran out of gas, Matt and Josh handled the situation calmly and efficiently, managing to get gas to the car as quickly as possible—all while making sure we stayed warm and safe. What was supposed to be a 2.5-hour tour turned into a 4-hour adventure, and thanks to them, we still completed the hike and were rewarded with the breathtaking beauty of the glacier ice caves. Their professionalism, kindness, resilience, and genuine care for their guests made this an unforgettable experience. Huge thanks to Matt and Josh—highly, highly recommend this tour!

5.00It was a tough day as we had to break a trail to get to the site but it was real. It was an Alaskan day , not Disneyland. The 2 pm skylight made my Texas brain think it was 530 pm but our guide, who worked his butt off to give us this great experience, had it under control. My kind of day . The reason I came here.

1.00Be careful. The guides were not prepared to take the group out into the frigid temps. I got cold burn blisters on my cheeks and have numbness from nerve damage in my hand. Please be sure, with any guide service, to request AMGA certification and know their emergency procedures. I was scared and in tremendous amounts of pain.
