Explore the unspoiled, remote located Surin Islands on a truly island adventure trip from Khao Lak by SeaStar Andaman without the usual high amounts of visitors. Get the privilege to snorkel around the pristine reef sites off the Surin Islands following the guidelines of the Green Fins initiative to protect the coral reefs after the massive bleaching in 2010. Learn about the nomadic sea culture of the Moken and spot turtles, reef sharks, eagle rays and with a little bit of luck impressive whale sharks, manta rays and dolphins which often patrol the islands.

This experience was amazing, everything went smoothly and was well thought out, thank you to moana and her team for making it perfect. It was amazing seeing the Monkin community and buying their souvenirs that they have made. The snorkeling is amazing, we have never seen such a variety of fish and corals. Whilst eating our meal on the island we could see wild monkeys in the trees. We cannot fault anything, we even had a meal waiting when we returned to the port that was amazing. We will definitely do this trip again next time. Such a magical day 🥰

0650 hotel pickup, with a light breakfast waiting for us at the docks 80 min speedboat to/from Surin Islands but a fantastic experience awaits. An amazing and an attentive guide (ours was Moana) and her colleagues and boat crew, with safety first and foremost. 1st stop 40min snorkling, then to Moken (sea gypsy)village. Nice lunch and chill time. Then onto two further snorkling sites for 40mins each and then return back to the mainland. Snorking was fabulous in clear blue waters with various coral and fish...saw my first ever clownfish on the second dive. Water, snacks and fruit provided on the boat and then a dinner on return. A truly memorable experience, with some wonderful staff. Seastar are an amazing company and would truly recommend them

After the short drive from our hotel we were greeted with breakfast and drinks, hot and cold. We were checked in and the tour operates in a wristband system - we were blue team. It’s very busy at the pier so this was a great way to identify your fellow passengers and guides. We were sized up for flippers, and given the option of prescription googles which was an excellent touch. There were free sea sickness pills which I advise to take as the speed boat is bumpy. The safety briefing was excellent, informative and funny. We were given fruit, biscuits and drinks all day. Nothing was too much trouble for the crew. I’d advise to take little with you and definitely a wet bag. Plenty of sun cream and nothing that you don’t mind getting wet. The moken tribe visit was awesome - take some small bhat notes for trinkets and souvenirs. The lunch on the island was good - we opted for a vegetarian option and had egg fried rice, salad and tofu made for us which was delicious. We saw flying lemurs on the island and it really was a tropical paradise! The snorkelling……simply amazing! There were 3 x 45 min stops in amazing reefs. Crystal clear water and in some parts no more than 2 metres from the coral. We saw clown fish, huge parrot fish, butterfly fish - a huge moray eel! As we boarded the boat we saw a turtle pop up for air. I was very surprised by the sheer number of fish - in the thousands - the marine life is abundant and thriving. A trip of a lifetime not to be missed.

We were picked up from our hotel at 7:10 AM and arrived at the pier shortly after 7:35 AM. This meant a 6 AM alarm and a rushed start to the day. Upon arriving at the pier, we had to wait for others to arrive, as some passengers were coming from Phuket. As a result, we didn’t set off until 9 AM. I find it puzzling why we needed to wake up and leave so early only to wait around for an hour and a half. When we got on the boat, the seating arrangement was quite strange. There were two long benches on either side, a few seats in the middle, and four at the back. There were already people sitting in the middle when we boarded, I'm assuming they got priority boarding? As we got straight on the boat when called. I get motion sickness, so I prefer to face forward, therefore had no choice but to take one of the seats at the back by 3 large engines. For an hour and half journey there and the same back, this was very loud, and gave me Tinnitus for 48 hours after. The positives: Snorkelling spots were stunning and some of the best I've ever experienced.
