Great for families with children and people looking to take cool photos. If you’re looking for an art museum though look elsewhere. First things first: if you booked this through TripAdvisor, the tickets will be buried deep within your messages. This stupid app will send you in an endless loop if you follow the “get tickets” link or any links in your email. The experience then begins with an instructional video outlining what to expect and the rules for the exhibits. It’s pretty telling that the rules about not yelling and watching your children are said only in English and not repeated in Japanese. Once inside theres a series of immersive rooms broken in 4 sections: water, forest, garden, and open space. The water section has the coolest infinity rooms- most of the photos seen online are in this section. The koi room and flowers room are incredible. The sphere room was absolute chaos with unsupervised kids shoving the giant balls around while the staff tried unsuccessfully to corral them. The forest section is more kid-focused and better managed as a result. Many pieces are reminiscent of a fun house or obstacle course, and there’s a cool piece where you can color your own animal and have it added to the interactive display. The garden section is the infinity room with live hanging flowers- It’s cool but calling it a separate section is a bit misleading since it only contains one room while the others have multiple sections. Finally open space is 3 sculptures and the food truck next to the exit. It’s also not really a section. Very cool immersive experience but it’s not an art museum so much as it’s a playground/instagram location. People seem much more focused on taking photos of the rooms than actually experiencing them. Couple that with lots of unsupervised children running amok and the end result is a cool museum that I couldn’t leave fast enough.

Over-hyped, derivative and not worth the money. Suitable only for young children as it’s little more than a play facility. The ‘Garden’ consisted of dead flowers suspended on wires - a real oxymoron!

A definite must! My son and I were blown away but this event. You are literally immersed in every aspect of the art. Don’t leave Tokyo with going!

The experience at the TeamLabs was top notch! We would recommend this experience to anyone. The problem came in with the tickets. I purchased via Viator and the tickets were not available. Instead I was sent a voucher. There was another family in the same predicament. None of us were allowed in. I called Viator and the third party who sold us the tickets. Trip advisor nor the third party were willing to reimburse us. 30 min after the event started, we received the tickets via WhatsApp . Fortunately Team Lab allowed us in. It was amazing once we entered. If you purchase these tickets be sure to actually have tickets sent to your phone before you leave. Not just voucher

You will need to remove socks and shoes. You will get your feet and shins wet, wear clothing you can roll up to your knees. Many surfaces are uneven so balance and mobility are a must. It felt like it was more suited to children than adults.
