Wat Chedi Luang Varavihara
Wat Chedi Luang, this temple is the site of an enormous pagoda, originally 280 feet high, and was partially destroyed by an earthquake in 1545. At one time, Wat Chedi Luang housed the revered Emerald Buddha image now enshrined in Bangkok’s Wat Phra Kaew. One of Wat Chedi Luang’s most striking architectural features is a magnificent Naga staircase adorns the chapel’s front porch.

5.00An amazing night! Wat Chedi Luang and especially Wat Doi Suthep were stunning, as was the view of the city at night. The tour guide was excellent, and the van was full of friendly folks. Highly recommended.

1.00Tour was scheduled for Saturday morning. On Friday night I was asked to reschedule my tour for Sunday because no one else signed up. Tonight, Saturday, I was asked to reschedule AGAIN for Monday, but I am leaving Chiang Mai and I can't keep changing my schedule to accommodate. I found this to be outrageously unprofessional and simply rude. I haven't received a refund notification yet.

5.00Three different styles of Wat with three different stories. Overall a very interesting half-day trip within Chiang Mai. Our guide provided historical backgrounds and we had what we think was the right amount of time at each Wat to explore the grounds. If you're seeking a bit of Buddhist zen, Wat Pha Lat is for you.
