Asakusa
Asakusa (浅草) is the center of Tokyo's shitamachi (literally "low city"), one of Tokyo's districts, where an atmosphere of the Tokyo of past decades survives. Asakusa's main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries.
Imperial Palace
**This tour does not include access to the inside of the Imperial Palace** The current Imperial Palace is located on the former site of Edo Castle, a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls in the center of Tokyo, a short walk from Tokyo Station. It is the residence of Japan's Imperial Family. Edo Castle used to be the seat of the Tokugawa shogun who ruled Japan from 1603 until 1867. In 1868, the shogunate was overthrown, and the country's capital and imperial residence were moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. In 1888 construction of a new Imperial Palace was completed. The palace was once destroyed during World War Two, and rebuilt in the same style, afterwards.

Koji our guide was great in planning the around what we wanted to see. We experienced taking trains and saw so much of Tokyo in 4 hours that we would not have been able to see on our own. Great tour and value.

Sammy was fantastic. Very flexible to adjust our direction of travel. We saw all the cool sites and we learned so much about shrines, temples, and the different cultural and religious particulars. We are a family of four with two teenage boys. Highly recommend.

Kris was an excellent communicator and was very accommodating with tailoring the experience. It was very helpful to have a local helping first timers navigating the big cuty.

Our tour guide was Sam, and she was perfect. She kept in great contact leading up to the tour as we coordinated last minute details. We have some mobility issues and didn’t want to take the bus and train, so Sam arranged a car and driver for us. We were picked up at our hotel right on time and taken to exactly the places we wanted to see: Shibuya Crossing, a Tokyo department store, an arcade, a shopping district, and a mall. Nothing fancy, but it was exactly what we wanted. Her English was perfect, so she was able to keep us both entertained and informed as we traveled. I’m a vegetarian, so she suggested Yoshinoya as a typical Tokyo lunch spot, and I discovered that cheese goes great on curry! And again, with our mobility concerns, she always made sure the car was waiting when we were ready to move on. The unexpected highlight was the department store - 7 levels of everything in the world including the largest collection of computer mice and keyboard I've ever seen. It was mesmerizing. A bonus: we’re huge Disney fans—and so is she—so we had a great time talking about Disney in addition to all our questions about Japanese culture. I also want to recognize our driver, whose name I’ve unfortunately forgotten, but he was a delight. His English wasn’t as strong, but I still enjoyed trying to converse with him. We’ve already decided that when we make it back to Japan, we’re finding Sam to be our guide again. We cannot recommend her highly enough!
