Asakusa
Asakusa (浅草) is the center of Tokyo's shitamachi (literally "low city"), one of Tokyo's districts, where an atmosphere of the Tokyo of past decades survives. Asakusa's main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries.
Imperial Palace
**This tour does not include access to the inside of the Imperial Palace** The current Imperial Palace is located on the former site of Edo Castle, a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls in the center of Tokyo, a short walk from Tokyo Station. It is the residence of Japan's Imperial Family. Edo Castle used to be the seat of the Tokugawa shogun who ruled Japan from 1603 until 1867. In 1868, the shogunate was overthrown, and the country's capital and imperial residence were moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. In 1888 construction of a new Imperial Palace was completed. The palace was once destroyed during World War Two, and rebuilt in the same style, afterwards.

We had a perfect 6 hour tour with Sam. We picked an itinerary with him that included Koishikawa Korakuen Gardens, Shinjuku Golden Gai, Nezu Shrine, and Sensoji. Sam was very knowledgeable, friendly, and helped us better understand the culture, history, and traditions of the sites and region. Highly recommended.

Naoki is fantastic. He is very professional, with great knowledge, extremly polite and very smart to read our interests and plan the perfect tour to introduce us the city. After a day with him we felt confident to move around Tokio like locals (almost). I highly recommend him.

This 6 hour walking tour of Tokyo was exceptional! The tour guide (Hideki) was totally organized and allowed us to submit preferences a couple days prior to the tour. He was a first-class gentleman and extremely knowledgeable about Tokyo and Japanese culture. He went beyond his tour responsibilities by assisting us in organizing some of our local travel arrangements for the coming days in Tokyo. we would highly recommend this tour. Thank you, Hideki! Our guide Rumi contacted me well in advance to find out our interests and tailor the tour. She is professional and on arrival in Tokyo she met us at the Hotel Lobby and was well organized and knew her way around the city. She is very knowledgable and enthusiastic and is a good communicator. She went out of her way to help us. Overall we had an excellent tour and highly recommend Rumi.

Tucker adjusted the itinerary to cover the places we wanted to see. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us lots of information and asked us about what we wanted to see. He waited for us whilst we were shopping & took us to a lovely local restaurant for lunch. He made sure we were always with him and crossed the roads safely. We had a lovely day. Thank you Tucker

Review of our guide Shuji, Nov. 7th, 2025 Our guide Shuji was truly an enrichment to our day. From the very first meeting, it was clear that he was not only friendly and attentive, but also possessed an impressive knowledge of Tokyo, as well as Japanese history, culture, and society. His explanations were never dry, but vivid and full of personal anecdotes and examples from his own life. What impressed us most was his international experience. This dual perspective, both Western and Japanese, made his stories especially engaging and easy to understand. He answered all our questions patiently, even when we bombarded him with quite a few. Throughout, he remained kind, humorous, and visibly proud of his country. His calm, respectful manner and his ability to explain complex topics clearly made him an excellent guide. You can tell that Shuji offers much more than mere facts: he conveys context, background, and food for thought. That’s exactly what sets an ordinary guide apart from an outstanding one. Conclusion: Absolutely recommended!

We had a fun time with An. We covered a lot of ground (5 major sites) and learned about Tokyo and the Japanese culture. An did a great job navigating us thru the train system and then maximized our time at the sites.

Masa (Masatoshi Fuji) was a great guide who showed us around Tokyo and gave us hints how to navigate the city on our own after our tour.
