Asakusa
Asakusa (浅草) is the center of Tokyo's shitamachi (literally "low city"), one of Tokyo's districts, where an atmosphere of the Tokyo of past decades survives. Asakusa's main attraction is Sensoji, a very popular Buddhist temple, built in the 7th century. The temple is approached via the Nakamise, a shopping street that has been providing temple visitors with a variety of traditional, local snacks and tourist souvenirs for centuries.
Imperial Palace
**This tour does not include access to the inside of the Imperial Palace** The current Imperial Palace is located on the former site of Edo Castle, a large park area surrounded by moats and massive stone walls in the center of Tokyo, a short walk from Tokyo Station. It is the residence of Japan's Imperial Family. Edo Castle used to be the seat of the Tokugawa shogun who ruled Japan from 1603 until 1867. In 1868, the shogunate was overthrown, and the country's capital and imperial residence were moved from Kyoto to Tokyo. In 1888 construction of a new Imperial Palace was completed. The palace was once destroyed during World War Two, and rebuilt in the same style, afterwards.

Had a wonderful private tour with Fumiko! We saw SO MUCH of Tokyo in just one afternoon. I was a solo traveler so Fumiko was very kind to help me take photos that included me. She had great advice on many treats to sample along the way. She was very knowledgeable and gave me lots of information along the way. Would highly recommended her!

The tour itself was very good and guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. Helped us easily navigate the local transportation system. I would recommend picking attractions very near each other so don’t have to waste a lot of time and energy on the subway and walking.

Sammy our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and kind. He had contacted us ahead of time to inquire about our interests and goals for the tour and based on that information, he created an itinerary that was packed with activities for the day. We all enjoyed the tour and would recommend Sammy to anyone interested.

Tour guide was fantastic and customized our experiences to being first time visitors to Tokyo. Nice mix of shopping, seeing the temples, palace, and parks.

Our guide (Nitta) was not helpful with our itinerary and to consider we had two 6 yr olds. He often walked way ahead of us and in large crowds it was hard for my kids and myself to keep up. He also didn’t use travel time to share more about Japan’s history and culture, instead he sat quietly. Complete waste of our first day in Tokyo.
