This guided sake experience explores Japanese sake through the concept of terroir in the heart of Tokyo. Hosted by historic Kahoku Sake Brewery, it is engaging and accessible, even for first-time sake drinkers. Guests start with a tasting of four sake styles, learning to identify sweetness, acidity, and aromatic versus rich profiles using an interactive tasting sheet. Next, they discover how Daigo’s climate, water, rice, and koji culture shape Kahoku Brewery’s sake, paired with regional specialties such as Daigo’s brand chicken (Shamo), dried sweet potatoes, and sashimi-style konjac. A hands-on sake lees experience follows, featuring a naturally sweet dessert sake made with amazake liqueur, a traditional fermented rice drink. It highlights the Japanese philosophy of sake-making, where every part of the rice is used with gratitude leaving nothing wasted. The program concludes with a casual completion ceremony, where participants receive a Sake Terroir Certificate, take commemorative photos, and enjoy a premium souvenir. More than just a tasting, this experience offers a relaxed and educational journey into the craftsmanship, culture, and regional identity of Japanese sake.

I realized I had misunderstood what “good sake” really meant. I always thought the best sake was sweet and fruity—but that was a misconception, and a little embarrassing to admit. This class helped me discover that I actually prefer sake with lower alcohol, gentle acidity on the palate, and a smooth, rounded finish. It sent me on a personal journey to find my perfect sake. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone interested in understanding sake on a deeper level.

This was my first sake tasting tour, and the experience completely changed how I taste and think about sake. Yaya is an amazing guide who makes sake easy and fun to understand. The tasting chart was fun and easy to follow, and the certificate and ochoko were great souvenirs. This was one of the best experiences I had, and I would highly recommend this tour!

Both sake and class were incredible. If I hadn’t joined this experience, I would never known the Daigo Town is home to such amazing sake and food. Next time, I definitely want to join their brewery tour. The souvenir we received was also adorable - I’ll use it every time I drink sake and remember this class.

Hosted by a historic sake brewary, which is pretty rare, so I decided to join and I'm really glad I did. We learned about the brewer's philosophy, the sake making process, and the cultural meaning of sake in Japan. The tasting was great, I bought my favorite bottle, and can't wait to use the ochoko and tokkuri we received. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic sake experience
