The windmill village Zaanse Schans is an open air museum that houses a collection of working windmills, wooden houses, barns and shops dating back to the 18th and 19th Century. All these buildings were brought here from 1961 on, bringing back to life this most prosperous period of the Zaan region.

5.00the experience of see the Netherlands and its windmills was really great, even with the ranny whether. The sites and tour were amazing, the guide was spectacular together with the bus driver making the trip pleasant and fulled with information and interesting facts about the country, languege and costumes. We really enjoy our time in this tour.

5.00Rick (guide) & Theo (driver) were great. Small walk from meeting point to the bus, but it didn’t take long to get to our destination. Cheese demo & tasting as a group, and then free time to wander and investigate the windmills, small houses, shops etc. We met up again for the clog making dem o& then a bit more free time before meeting back at the bus. Rick was informative & funny and could appreciate that people wanted to wander around themselves.
