Note: If you cannot bike, you can tour the park with the vehicle or walk, the driver/guide is happy to stop for photos of wildlife and scenery
In case you are also tired of biking and have not completed the trail, you can leave the bike on the side of the road and notify the guide and the car will come rescue you at no extra cost.

Hell's Gate National Park
Begin with 7am pickup in Nairobi, then travel to Lake Naivasha and Hell’s Gate National Park, with a break to get views of the Great Rift Valley from a scenic overlook along the way. Upon arriving in the park at roughly 9am, begin a 2-hour, guided bike/walking tour: watch for beautiful rock formations, herds of Thompson’s gazelle, eland, zebra, giraffes, warthogs and hartebeest as you ride. Keep an eye on the sky throughout the tour, as Hell’s Gate National Park is home to more than 100 species of birds, including Verreaux’s eagles, augur buzzards, vulture, and swifts. Continue on foot into the park’s distinctive gorges, where narrow passageways and caves are sunk into sedimentary rock. After a 1-hour walk, depart for Lake Naivasha, then head to Naivasha Marina camp for lunch (own expense). Note: If you cannot bike, you can tour the park with the vehicle, the driver/guide is happy to stop for photos of wildlife and scenery at no extra cost
Lake Naivasha
For an additional fee of $25 per person, you can explore Lake Naivasha wildlife on a 1-hour boat tour. Spot the hippos that linger just at the surface of the water, and see some of the diverse birdlife; African fish eagles, lesser flamingos, African spoonbill, and little grebe are all common here. At 4pm, begin the return trip to Nairobi, and finish the day with drop-off in Nairobi at roughly 6pm.

5.00Our tour to Hell's Gate National Park and Lake Naivasha was truly one of the most memorable travel experiences we’ve ever had — and the perfect introduction to Kenya and Africa! From the very beginning, everything was flawless. Our driver — and now our new friend — David picked us up from our hotel in Nairobi exactly at the agreed time. Not even one minute late! That level of professionalism immediately set the tone for the day. During the drive to Hell’s Gate, both my wife and I had an incredible conversation with him. We spoke about Kenya’s history, culture, society, and everyday life. We learned so much in just a few hours. Beyond being an amazing person, David is extremely mature for his young age — thoughtful, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about his country. He made us feel comfortable, welcomed, and excited for what was ahead. At Hell’s Gate, we met our guide Gomez — another incredible person! He guided us through the national park on bicycles, and what a unique experience that was. Cycling through a national park surrounded by wildlife is something you don’t experience everywhere in the world — and it is definitely much better than taking a car (which you can do elsewhere). We spotted so many animals: giraffes, zebras, impalas, wildebeests, baboons, and many more. The scenery was breathtaking — especially the beautiful gorge and the dramatic landscapes that famously inspired Disney’s The Lion King. Gomez truly went the extra mile to ensure we had a smooth and unforgettable experience. He was patient, knowledgeable, and even took amazing photos of us that we will treasure forever. We feel incredibly lucky that on the same day we met both David and Gomez — two wonderful people who made the experience exceptional. After leaving Hell’s Gate, we met David again and headed to Lake Naivasha. There, we enjoyed a fantastic boat tour with Nicholas. What we saw on the lake was simply unbelievable. We spotted hundreds of animals: hippos, gnu (wildebeests), fish eagles, pelicans, zebras, and more. One of the highlights was watching the eagles hunt. Nicholas threw fish into the water, and we witnessed these majestic birds dive from far away with incredible precision. Seeing their skill up close was breathtaking. After the boat tour, we relaxed at the lovely Lake Naivasha Crescent Camp, where we enjoyed delicious local food and the warm hospitality of the people there. It was the perfect way to end such an exciting day. This was our first trip to Kenya — and our first time in Africa — as well as our first tour experience in the country. We could not have asked for a better introduction. From the stunning landscapes and wildlife to the warmth and kindness of the people, everything exceeded our expectations. A huge thank you to David, Gomez, and Nicholas for making this day unforgettable. We fully enjoyed every moment and felt truly welcomed. We definitely recommend this tour to everyone visiting Kenya. It is unique, adventurous, educational, and simply magical.

5.00Had an incredible time on this trip, extremely well looked after by Jafar and Stephen, who were lovely, knowledgeable, kind, and funny. Really recommend this to anyone, it’s a full day of activities and 100% worth it — saw so many awesome animals and it was refreshing to be able to cycle rather than sit in a car.

5.00My friend and I had an incredible experience at Hell’s Gate National Park. From start to finish, David and Gomez took exceptional care of us. David picked us up in Nairobi and ensured a safe, smooth drive to the park, clearly explaining the admission process and what to expect. They thoughtfully helped us structure the day so we could fully enjoy the experience while still catching our evening flight—especially impressive since one of us had just flown in that morning. We saw an amazing variety of wildlife, and biking through the park was truly unforgettable. It felt immersive, like we were part of the landscape rather than just observing it. Learning that Hell’s Gate inspired scenes from The Lion King made the experience even more special. If I return to Kenya, I will absolutely book again—hopefully with David and Gomez leading the adventure.

4.00Hells Gate National Park was fantastic, you see lots of animals and amazing to be out of a vehicle and cycling through a park passing many zebras and giraffes. The guide Frederick was very knowledgeable and kind. The car was comfortable given the long journey. Lunch was tasty. I was a little unlucky as the weather on the lake was bad but this could not be helped. I was a little surprised the guide did not warn me or offer an umbrella back to the car. Overall I had not appreciated this a solo trip - i thought i would be in a group so if you are looking for a group tour then this is not for you.

5.00This was an absolutely unforgettable trip and a true bucket-list experience. From start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations. Our guide, Gomez, was fantastic. We explored Hell’s Gate on electric bikes, which was a unique and thrilling way to experience the park. At one point, we stopped just a few steps away from wild zebras and even managed to take a selfie from a safe distance. We also saw giraffes, warthogs, buffalo, gazelles, and many other animals up close in their natural habitat. Being on a bike rather than in a car made the experience so much more personal and immersive. Gomez also showed us the canyon that inspired Mufasa’s death scene and Pride Rock, both iconic backdrops from The Lion King. That added a special touch to the day. A big thank you as well to David, our driver. He was calm, professional, and made the journey comfortable. He didn’t mind our sleepy, grumpy moods at 7 am [Chuckle]. I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for something different from a traditional safari. Riding through Hell’s Gate was surreal, and getting so close to the wildlife made it an experience we’ll never forget. If you want to truly connect with nature and see animals in the wild, this is the way to do it.

5.00I had such a great time from start to finish. The day began with Patrick, who was my driver and tour guide on the way to Hell’s Gate. Going with him was a blast. He shared a ton of information about the area, wildlife, and history, and at the same time we chatted about all sorts of things. It never felt scripted or formal. He’s a very warm and welcoming guy, and he really set the tone for the whole experience. The bike ride through Hell’s Gate was fantastic. Riding past towering cliffs and open plains was something I will not forget. Reagan was the guide for the park, and he was incredibly knowledgeable and incredibly kind. I had hurt my back earlier in the week, and he kept making sure we stopped so I could stretch. He was constantly checking on my well being, which I genuinely appreciated. His knowledge of the landscape, geology, and wildlife added so much depth to the ride and hike. The boat ride on Lake Naivasha was a ton of fun too....Hippos! The lake itself is peaceful and beautiful. Overall, I really enjoyed my time. Between the incredible scenery, the wildlife, and the warmth and professionalism of the guides, it was a memorable experience. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting the area.

5.00We had a very nice day with Patrick our driver (he drives very save) and Innocent as our guide in Hells Gate. The Gorge was very beautiful and not difficult to walk at all. I biked only the way up. And let me drive back. But you can easily choose to bike back. The voorturn was very nice, we saw many animals in and from the water.
