Experience 3 authentic local Kenyan experiences with a local food blogger/writer.

I have been a food local guide for 8 years and a well established food writer & Food blogger in Kenya. I will help you discover the local life & culture through food, share tips & tricks about local life. I'll take you to safe places where you would not ordinary venture to as a tourist and show you what life is like in terms of food, how we move, eat and cook. We'll weave through the local farmers market as we source our local fresh produce. I'll help you discover the wonders of the local market, fruits & vegetables.

Afterwards we will prep & cook together a Kenyan local/traditional meal from scratch as we chat and catch up :)

This activity involves 3 amazing Kenyan Experiences? 1. Local famers Market Tour 2. Matatu Experience (Public Transport experience) 3. Cooking class (Kenyan Cuisine) at my home. After meeting, we will take a visit/tour to the farmers market and do some grocery shopping.. (You can totally skip this if you are not feeling up to it) You will get to interact with the locals and see the fresh produce used to make our dish which are fresh from the farm. Have a perspective of local life, vibe and culture. During the experience we will make a complete Kenyan meal. A main dish and a side dish with veggies. The session lasts 3 to 3.5 hrs. After the experience guests can carry the foods prepared. Be prepared to have fun and get your hands dirty :). If you would like to watch that`s fine too. If, however, you would to turn up and enjoy the home cooked meal without the hustle of going to the market, you are also welcomed. NB/ Price includes grocery shopping. NB/ Vegetarian/Pescatrian/Gluten free options are available on notice upon booking. This is a unique cooking class which also offers insight into the daily lives of many Kenyans. Nimoh is a great host. After meeting Nimoh, we got the local bus during rush hour to the market and then to the apartment where the cooking class took place. I would advise others to fully read up on what to expect from the excursion as I was not expecting the bus commute so found the bus commute overwhelming at first but it was a great experience overall and I learned more about the local culture. Nimoh guided us through the market and purchased the food. She then guided us through how to cook the delicious Kenyan goat stew with veg, mash and salad. Nimoh was a great host, and also taught us about the culture and local music and and I am appreciative of the experience. We decided to get a taxi back rather than the bus again as it was late, so I would also advise clarifying in advance what transport is included in the excursion.

This was a unique and wonderful experience! Minoh is a true local chef who knows the market vendors and has a well-stocked, clean kitchen and comfortable home. It was very fun and instructional! Highly recommend!! It was a little stressful to get specific details on the meeting point at first, the provider was responsive to our questions and it worked out great.

I had a wonderful afternoon with Nimoh. She will email you beforehand with the meeting spot and key points to stick to. We went to the market to do the shopping and you get to ride on a matatu which I think most tourists wouldn't get a chance to experience unless you have a local with you. It's quite the experience. Nimoh is well-known amongst the matatu staff and the market stall holders so it's a very safe and efficient experience (she's been running this tour for 8 years). Before shopping, your group gets to choose one meal option out of several and everything was delicious. She told us great stories and gave insights into everyday Kenyan life. Book this tour!

This experience far excited expectations from the moment we met Nimo to the end of dinner. Nimo is so friendly and an amazing cook. We enjoyed everything we made and plan to make some at home. We will recommend to our friends visiting Nairobi for sure!

This was a GREAT experience. Nimoh is a super fun person who can cook and entertain with ease. Seeing the market is something you're unlikely to do outside of a tour and it was interesting to see how locals buy their produce. We also stopped by a butcher to pick up some chicken - it's a world away from how Americans buy meat. We took a matatu from the market to her neighborhood - another thing you're unlikely to do outside of a tour because it is slightly intimidating even for seasoned travelers. We ended up at her sunny apartment and cooked with her, chatted, and hung out. We ended the afternoon with a delicious meal and some South African wine. We did this class on our last day but we wished we had started with it because Nimoh had great suggestions and recommendations for visiting Nairobi - I recommend you start with Nimoh!
