Stirling Castle
Pass by historic Stirling Castle on its rocky crags.
National Wallace Monument
The National Wallace Monument was built to honour our great Scottish hero - William Wallace.
Glencoe National Nature Reserve
Glen Coe is perhaps the most famous of all Scotland’s glens. This narrow valley is where the bloody massacre of the MacDonalds took place in 1692 and has been used as a backdrop for many movies including Skyfall. We will stop nearby for lunch (at own expense).
Glenfinnan Viaduct
Visit the Glenfinnan Viaduct (Apr-Oct only) which famously features in several Harry Potter movies as the Hogwarts Express train crosses the bridge.
Ben Nevis
We stop for a photo of Britain’s highest mountain (Ben Nevis).
Fort Augustus
There will be an opportunity for photos and souvenir shopping in the charming village of Fort Augustus.
Loch Ness
We continue along the full length of Loch Ness - keep your eyes peeled for a glimpse of the Loch Ness Monster!
Urquhart Castle
We will stop at Urquhart Castle for a photo opportunity and to stretch legs before the final leg of the journey to Inverness.
Inverness
Our overnight stay is in the northernmost city of the UK and pretty capital of the Highlands, Inverness. There are numerous pubs, cafés and restaurants for evening entertainment.
Culloden Battlefield
After being collected from your accommodation it's only a short drive to Culloden Moor where the Jacobites were finally defeated by government soldiers in 1746, the last battle to be fought on British soil. You will have time to walk on the battlefield and learn more about this tragic event that killed 700 Highland clansmen in three minutes.
Clava Cairns
Visit one of Scotland's most evocative and sacred prehistoric sites, 4000 year old stone circles and burial mounds at Clava Cairns.
Cairngorms National Park
As we drive south through the Cairngorms National Park you'll hear about the flora and fauna of this wonderful wilderness which was officially protected in 2003 and is the largest national park in the British Isles. We will also stop for lunch at one of the charming villages within the national park.
Ruthven Barracks
During your drive through the Cairngorms National Park, you should spot Ruthven Barracks, built in 1719 after the 1715 Jacobite rising.
Pitlochry
The Highland town of Pitlochry has an elegant main street packed with shops and restaurants. During your break here there is an option to visit the Blair Athol Distillery (own expense) where you can take a guided tour and of course sample the 'water of life' for yourself.
The Hermitage
Your final stop is a gentle riverside walk through Big Tree Country at Dunkeld, a beautiful way to finish the tour all seasons of the year.
Forth Road Bridge
Just before returning to Edinburgh (tour return time is 7pm) your journey takes you over the River Forth. You may make a quick photo stop in South Queensferry to capture the famous Forth Rail Bridge - built in 1890.

I feel like I got the most out of my trip to Scotland thanks to Heart of Scotland. We were in Scotland for 8 days and did two of their tours. One was the overnight to Inverness, the other Hadrians Wall and the borders. Our tour guide Angela was friendly, funny, informative and accommodating. Not expensive and worth every penny for the experiences we had!

My daughter and I took a two day trip up to Inverness. Roddy was our driver and he was absolutely wonderful. He was so lovely, engaging and filled with stories and history of Scotland. We visited some absolutely beautiful landscapes and towns. Highly recommend this little glimpse of the magical Highlands.

We just completed the 2 day Highlands tour. Our tour guide was Roddy and he was absolutely wonderful. Kind, compassionate, caring, funny, great storyteller. We went to so many wonderful places, he was so knowledgeable about all the places we stopped at, and he made sure we all had time to see, explore and participate. At the start of the tour, we were running a few minutes behind getting it if it hotel and getting a taxi and he was kind enough to wait on us to get there. We had a small group - 10 of us - which I loved the small more personable feel and was a small 16 seater van. Highly recommend, will use them again in the future and will request Roddy of he's available. Thank you so much for making the tour what it was. ❤️

Nick who was very helpful and the amazing stories from Callum whose luv of the highlands is infectious. I know there are other tours but a private tour with this company is the best way to see Scotland.

Couldn't have asked for a better tour! Stops were spaced out perfectly so that we didn't feel rushed and really appreciated the comfort stops along the way. Given the group was smaller, I felt there was more flexibility with the itinerary. Additionally, the van was very spacious and comfortable. Our tour guide Roddy was amazing, touching on history but also keeping it fun and always offering to take pictures for us. Glad we got to see the highlands and can't wait to go back and stay longer.

Angela was the best tour guide I’ve ever had and made this the best tour we’ve ever been on. Her knowledge was far greater than I expected. Not only does she have a passion and deep knowledge for Scotland, her talent for storytelling and sense of humor is are what made it such a great trip. It felt like we were on a journey with a close friend. I give this tour my highest recommendation, specifically because of Angela.
