As an Irish traveller, Morocco completely exceeded my expectations – it’s a country full of colour, warmth, and adventure. From the bustling souks of Marrakech to the vast silence of the Sahara Desert, every day brought something new and memorable. Marrakech was the perfect starting point, with its vibrant medina, spices, and endless energy. The Jemaa el-Fnaa square is unlike anything at home in Ireland – buzzing with music, food stalls, and storytellers. I’d recommend a rooftop café nearby to soak in the atmosphere from above. The highlight of my trip was the Sahara Desert. Riding camels across the golden dunes at sunset felt like stepping into another world. Spending the night under the stars in a Berber camp, with traditional music by the fire, was magical – something I’ll carry with me forever. The sky in the desert is unlike anything we see back home; millions of stars lighting up the night. Our guide Ibrahim was very friendly and educational. He was cheerful, always enthusiastic and a fun guy to hang out with.
