  • Best Way to Experience the Sahara

We had a wonderful time in the Sahara! Our guide seemed genuinely friendly and very good @ his job. In addition, we met some wonderful people from all over the world. The dining options were what we'd become used to in Morocco, lots of tajine and couscous. On the other hand, the ride there and back (from Marrakesh) is extremely long in the bus and we were pretty cramped although they do stop regularly. Furthermore, the amenities @ the Sahara camp are a little rugged (even in the luxury tent). Highly recommend his experience!

Overall, it was a reasonably fine trip. Mohamed, the driver, is a great driver with good driving skills, making us feel safe throughout the journey. Ali, the tour guide, was a good guy and kept us updated on the itinerary and all necessary details. We were prepared for the long drive, so it wasn't a surprise. The Sahara Desert was absolutely stunning, and riding a camel was a fun and memorable experience. The views at Todgha Gorge and Tizi n'Tichka were breath taking, and Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou was exceptional. Reasons for missing 2 star: Food: The meals were very pricey. At 120 MAD per person, we expected a proper meal, not cold and below-standard food. Accommodation: The first night's hotel was very basic. The swimming pool was under renovation and cannot be used. Very disappointing. In addition, cleanliness could be improved. Merzouga Luxury Tent: there was no hot water, and the water pressure was very low. We paid extra for a private shower/toilet but couldn't use it due to these issues. Review Process: We were asked to provide a review during the trip, with the tour guide standing next to us. This felt pressured, and we believe reviews should be given at the end of the trip without any pressure. We hope we can spend a bit more time in the Sahara Desert. We arrived at around 7 pm and left at 6:40 am the next day, which left us very little time to enjoy the desert scenery.

Great tour! Totally worth the money. It’s a long drive, but the stops along the way were worth the long drive back. My husband and I are vegan, and nobody seemed to know what that meant. We were provided vegan food at meals, but it felt risky since the locals kept assuming we were just vegetarian. Otherwise, great experience!
