Be a part of a unique experience as you venture through Penang’s Georgetown Heritage Area where we feed your hunger for food & knowledge. A local Penang-born tour guide takes you bite-by-bite through each step of this food trail. You sip delicious local drinks and munch on traditional dishes which our ancestors have kept alive. During this tour, we unveil Penang and Malaysia's history and finally end our food trail at a bar with a locally inspired cocktail or mocktail.

BE HUNGRY, BE OPEN
Make sure you come hungry when you join the food experience and be open to foods introduced by the guide
WEAR COMFORTABLE SHOES
The food experience tours are normally walking trails. It's advises that guests wear comfortable shoes during the food experience
BRING YOUR WATER BOTTLE
Water helps during the tour especially during hot weather. Its very easy to get thirsty in Malaysia.
UMBRELLA AND RAINCOAT
Malaysia's weather can be unpredictable. Please bring your own umbrella or raincoat if its raining or going to rain.
AVOID WEARING WHITE
There's nothing worse than spilling food on a white t-shirt. If you don't mind the stain, you can always wear white.

We meet at the Kapitan Keling Mosque which is located close to some of the best Malay food in town. You'll learn more about the Malay community and how its dishes have mixed with other cultures.
Goddess of Mercy Temple (Kuan Yin Teng)
Many of the local traditions and cultures originate from the religions and beliefs settlers brought with them. The Goddess of Mercy temple is one such example. We'll visit this temple and take a step back in time.

5.00This was just what we wanted, a cultural tour alongside a street-food one. Our guide Wei Shen was incredibly personable and knowledgeable on all aspects of Georgetown and Penang island. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend this tour. Above all it gave us the confidence to walk in to food court s and order dishes we wouldn’t have contemplated doing before!

5.00This was our second Simply Enak tour. First one with Jackie in KL, enjoyed it so much we decided to do another in Penang. There was no overlapping with food. Fabulous tour! Highly recommend! Great mix of foods, drinks, culture & history. Wei Shen is very knowledgeable!

5.00Excellent tour with our amazing guide, Ronald! We sampled many delicious dishes that represent the diverse culture within Penang, and learned some interesting history along the way. We left feeling full but not overly stuffed, and felt the tour was the perfect blend of food and culture.

5.00Could not recommend this tour more! As a foodie this tour was fantastic, we had such a range of food and they were also able to fully cater to our dietary requirements. The entire evening was very memorable and incredibly tasty. I try to do a food tour in every country I visit and this was easily in my top 2 food tours. The 4 hours seems like a long time but it is in fact perfect, we never felt rush and we had so much fun we didn’t even realise the time was going. I recommend it to everyone who wants to try the flavours of Penang! Also make sure to come with an empty belly and also pace yourself, you’ll want to try everything so try not to go too fast

5.00Absolutely the best food experience! We had a tour with Wei Shein, who paced the entire excursion perfectly. We enjoyed a wonderful mix of culture, food, and history as we explored old George Town. No one left hungry or felt like we missed out on anything. We visited places of worship, admired street art, sampled food from the best street vendors, and met the families living on Chew Clan Jetty. I highly recommend this tour!

4.00Gary is a great guide, very knowledgeable and explained the food well. We got so full we couldn't really do justice to the penultimate stop. We finished in a bar with live music and a drink. This is not only a food tour but the tour took in some temples, and also some of the iron sculptures.
