Venture south of Athens to discover highlights of the Peloponnese. Cross the Corinth Canal to leave mainland Greece and explore the Ancient Corinth, antiquity’s most powerful commercial crossroads. The wealthiest city in all the ancient world, a leader amongst the powerful Greek city-states, built at the foothills of the rocky hill of Acrocorinth, discernible from afar, a striking lookout against potential enemies coming by land or sea.

Corinth Canal
The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth's isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal.
Lunch: Enjoy authentic Greek cuisine and traditional foods.

Our driver, Thanasis, was very friendly. Shared interesting history about buildings and areas we drove by. The sights we saw were beautiful! After climbing up as high as we could manage at Akrokorinthos, he had the AC waiting for us. A great day trip and great guide. Definitely recommend

I took this tour because I wanted to see Corinth but didn't want a very long day going all the way to Nafplio as well. It meant having to book the 2 person minimum despite being a solo traveler. Fortunately, Thanasis made it a great trip, with so many stories, not just about Corinth but also Greece in general. He was flexible and kind, and I got a more personal sense for the Greek sentiment than you would get from dedicated tours.

The private tour allowed our group to tour these sites at our own pace. Our driver provided us with information on what we would see but could not guide us through the sites.

This was an excellent way to spend the morning after arriving back to the cruise terminal before being able to check into our hotel in Athens. If you enjoy hiking more than museums, I recommend spending less time at the museum and more time exploring Acrocorinth.

Alex gave my husband and I a wonderful tour of ancient Corinth, the canal, and the Corinth acropolis. Alex was very knowledgeable, communicated with us well, and allowed us to take our time and focus on the parts of the trip we were most interested in. He showed us a delightful lunch spot with an amazing view! I would absolutely recommend Alex’s tours to other visitors.

We had an excellent time. Cost, our driver, was great. He asked us why we chose this excursion and we told him it was to do somewhat of a biblical tour of where the Apostle Paul may have been. So he took that to heart and shared info that would add to the experience we wanted. He was very knowledgeable about Greek Mythology & religion. He was very passionate when he spoke and his information helped make each stop more memorable. The length of the day was perfect. We went to 4 stops and enjoyed them all. We never felt rushed. We would recommend this tour.
