Corinth Canal
The Corinth Canal connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometres (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 metres (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. From high up, you can enjoy the best view of Corinth's isthmus and admire the steep limestone walls while you observe the vessels below you navigate their way through the canal.
Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos)
Corinth was a city-state on the Isthmus of Corinth, the narrow stretch of land that joins the Peloponnese to the mainland of Greece, roughly halfway between Athens and Sparta. The modern city of Corinth is located approximately 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the ancient ruins. For Christians, Corinth is well known from the two letters of Saint Paul in the New Testament, First and Second Corinthians. Corinth is also mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles as part of Paul the Apostle's missionary travels. In addition, the second book of Pausanias' Description of Greece is devoted to Corinth. Ancient Corinth was one of the largest and most important cities of Greece, with a population of 90,000 in 400 BC. The Romans demolished Corinth in 146 BC, built a new city in its place in 44 BC, and later made it the provincial capital of Greece.

We had a wonderful day touring some of the most amazing historic sites of this part of Greece. Our driver/guide, Giorgios, was extremely knowledgeable, well-spoken, courteous, and an excellent driver. He made our experience very comfortable and we learned so much from him—my partner nicknamed him “the professor” because of his comprehensive knowledge—but he also allowed us to sit quietly and absorb what we were seeing. Each of the sites we visited would warrant a full day’s exploration but this trip gave us a taste of each. Highly recommended!

Wonderful tour of some of the archeological sites of Peloponnese. Amazing to walk in the footsteps of the Apostle Paul in Ancient Corinth and to see the world’s best preserved theater in Epidaurus. Dimitris was a wealth of knowledge and kept us on schedule. Everything was made easy from pickup at the seaport to drop off at the hotel. Highly recommend this day trip from Athens.

For once in your life, if you happen to be in Greece, take this trip to Corinth and nearby places. The tour took us on a smooth ride to Corinth, Mycanae and all the interesting places along the way. After which, a sumptous lunch in Nafplios where some of the rich and famous dock their yacths. Paired with a wonderful driver (George), it made the trip more wonderful with his sense of humor and tales of life in Greece. It surely is a trip of a lifetime.

Absolutely loved our tour with Panos! He went above and beyond to make the day wonderful for us, even changed the tour plans to accommodate my elderly parents and adjusted things last minute when we missed the train ( not our tour guide fault, we were running late that morning).

Starting with our Guide, Kostas, everything was very pleasant. The places were spectacular, learning more deeply about history outside Athens. I believe our driver/guide has made all the difference. The attention given and all the explanations, from beginning to end, were fundamental for everything to go perfectly. Super recommend.
