We will welcome you with fresh fruits and homemade lemonade. In our hidden 1920's stone house you will cook a full meal of six traditional dishes, you will learn about their origins and region of the products . Then you will enjoy the meal in our breezy backyard. Every Tuesday, weather permitting, we take you to a 10 minute walk to the local fruit and vegetable market in our neighborhood. Kerameikos was named in 2018 by Forbes one of the world’s coolest neighborhoods. One of the oldest parts of Athens, Kerameikos has lived through many incarnations. Today, it’s an exciting part of the city with its endless choices of bars and restaurants, and it’s a place where you can feel the vibrancy of new Athens unite with the grandeur of the old. This menu is seasonal. Is a carefully selection of dishes offered by Mama's roots that focuses on using in-season ingredients. This means that the menu is periodically updated to showcase the best and freshest produce available during a specific time of year.

Probably the best thing we did in Athens! We all participated as a family, and made 6 wonderful vegetarian dishes. Cannot find enough superlatives to describe this. Have taken the recipes and hopefully will cook them at home as well

Wonderful for all skill levels. Small group setting was much appreciated. The instructor, Kostas, was kind and taught each dish well. Feel like we can easily make these dishes at home now. The home and kitchen area was so charming, and eating in the garden was the perfect end to class.
Besides the Temples and History…THIS is what you come to Athens for…

What a fabulous experience!!!! The semi-private small group experience was tons of fun and we were lucky enough to be with a great group of people! The setting is beautiful and the food…oh my. Such a pleasure to learn how to cook both traditional Greek AND Greek with a twist dishes. Vassilis (Bill) was the best guide/teacher we had all week. He was funny, informative, interactive, and interesting. Loved him. He even provides the group with his favorite restaurants in Athens (secretly) and we have to say, the one we went to blew our mind. Really loved everything about this experience. Pick Mama’s Roots for your culinary adventure. Skip the more commercialized and large classes (in our experience). Well done!!!
