Athens Food on Foot was the provider of our absolutely amazing walking food tour. Lefteris was the perfect guide for our group of 8 and kept us laughing as we walked through the Plaka, stopping at several venues to sample some authentic Greek cuisine, from Greek yogurt, bread and olive oil, olives, cheeses, souvlaki, gelato, and a 4 course family style meal, including dessert. So much food! We made the mistake of having lunch prior to our 6 p.m. tour. We were glad for the long walk after our overindulgence. Book this one, ask for "Lef".

This tour exceeded our expectations and was a highlight of our stay in Athens. We are true "foodies" but my wife's dairy intolerance can present unique challenges on some of these tours. We were assured that even in Greece, home of yogurt and cheese, she could participate and enjoy this experience. Our guide, Ilias delivered in spades. He discretely provided her with alternatives (she doesn't like her limitations to be the focus of the group) that she truly enjoyed. He also effortlessly interacted with everyone in attendance, making us all feel welcome and valued. Ilias made this more than a food tasting tour. As we'd hoped, he made it a memorable experience of Greek culture -- telling us about the origins, ingredients, preparation and, most interestingly, the cultural significance of the dishes that we sampled as well as HOW his countrymen enjoy them. It was a wonderful way to better understand the tempo and feeling of current life in Athens and a wonderful counterpoint to the historical and archeological sites we experienced during our near week in the city. We cannot say enough about how wonderful this experience was.

Excellent tour leader, Philippi (sp?), he had a great selection of food, a lot of food, kept us moving, and great knowledge of the food and history of Greece. I have food allergies and he was well prepared. I highly recommend you take this tour.

This was a great way to taste the foods of Athens and see the neighborhoods and just learn a little bit more about it from a local. Our guide Kate was friendly and made it easy. My husband said we could have tried the foods cheaper on our own, which is true, but I then wouldn’t have tried a lot of things on my own and would have skipped them. I enjoyed all and was glad we did it this way. It was a good experience. We had Greek yogurt, baklava, koulouri, and a bunch of traditional family dishes at a tavern. It really was a good time full of delicious food, and I mean full. Only wish is we tried the Greek coffee, but that will not be hard on our own.
