  Staff were friendly and helpful. They took time to explain every detail of the trip. Even gave a history lesson on the inland bay.

  Not sure it was worth the $225 we paid for each person. The guides were great. BUT, it was over congested and dealing with inexperienced kayakers ramming you makes it slightly unpleasant. However, if we were drunk and it was supposed to be bumper boats might have enjoyed ourselves a little more. Was nice to see the bioluminescent bay.

  One in a lifetime opportunity! Amazing! The transportation from our hotel was great. The kayak guides were knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. Great experience for all ages and levels. We are not an adventurous family but this was great even for us. You have to do this tour! Do not miss out.

  This was one of the most disorganized tours I've ever been on. While the booking through Viator went fine, and the pickup/drive by Joel was flawless, the actual kayaking (Viator booked it through Eco Action) was ridiculous. There were too many kayakers in our group (26 + 4 guides)...and at least 4 groups from multiple companies out at one time (so more than 100 kayaks). There was almost zero instruction for those who had never been in a kayak (they were really bad at controlling their kayaks and didn’t seem to know their right from their left) and many of the small lights on the kayaks went out making those kayaks impossible to see in the dark. On the way back from the laguna, we saw another kayak flip after being pushed into the side of the canal (hard to believe, but true). When we got back to the starting point, it was even more chaotic as the next groups were going out and there seemed to be no instruction or guidance. We were warned before going on the trip that the bioluminescent was very low....and it was. When we got to the laguna, the guides gave us a tarp to put over the kayaks so that we could see the sparkles, but gave almost no explanation beforehand...so we were sitting in our kayaks in the laguna waiting and wondering....it felt like they had zero training before leading this trip. For that, I blame the company as much as the guides themselves. It would have been nice to know that we were going to wait around in the kayaking company area for more than an hour before the tour started...and that the men’s bathrooms had no working toilets. On the positive side, our driver Joel was great and kayaking at night is actually pretty amazing when you're not playing bumper boats with a hundred other kayaks. Perhaps groups should be split into experienced kayakers and first-timers....or maybe the beginners should have a lesson first. And maybe if the dinoflagellates had been glowing more, it would have been worth the more than two hours of chaos.

  Fabulous, knowledgable guides. Great experience! (Since there are SO many groups going at once, it might be an idea to divide folks into experienced and inexperienced kayakers to make things run smoothly, but really this isn't a complaint). The bioluminescence was beautiful and the kayaking was super chill through the mangroves. A big highlight on our trip!

  This was the most beautiful natural experience I think I have ever had. We did not take pictures because I don’t think they would have done the experience justice. We met our guides and went to our kayaks (there were at least 6 other tour groups there as well). We all lined up to kayak to the bay, about 2 miles. It is an easy paddle to the bay as you are going with the current. It took quite a while as all the groups have to paddle the same narrow passage. It was frustrating, but worth it. We started to see the bioluminescence as it got darker and we got closer to the bay. We saw a fish swim by which looked radioactive. Once we got to the bay we were able to spread out.. we gathered as a group and our guides explained what was happening. Then we took out a large tarp as covered ourselves-this was when the magic really happened. We splashed water into the kayaks and it was like fireflies in the boat. It was beautiful. We played for a bit under the tarp then paddled around a bit watching our paddles and hands in the water. The kayak back was a bit more challenging due to the current. There was water and some very light snacks upon our return. I cannot recommend this tour enough.

  While you can book this excursion directly with several companies, it was worth it to have a driver who picked us up and drove us safely the 50 minutes there and back in traffic. He also provided the van as a safe place to leave our belongings. EcoAction, the company providing the kayaks, also did an amazing job, getting us there and back safely, and also providing a lot of information to help us understand what we were seeing. If you have a night where the bioluminescent glow is not as strong, they have a clean dry tarp they have you put over the group of kayaks to be able to see it clearly. We were so glad we did this. As we paddled, the water lit up and it was absolutely beautiful.

  This experience is 4 times the price as other similar excursions with no described reason. Will never know if it’s worth it because they expressed no ability to accommodate an unforeseen, slight delay in our arrival to San Juan. They were rigid no negotiations on reschedule or refund, felt set up to take our money.

  The guides made the entire experience better. They were patient, knowledgeable and trying hard to point out wildlife and other things to see on our way to the lagoon.

  Incredible and beautiful experience of a lifetime. I would have never kayaked in the pitch darkness through a lagoon had it not been for this tour. The guides kept us organized and safe and explained the biodiversity of the lagoon. The stars, sounds of birds, fish, and bioluminescence were stunning. Highly highly recommend this during your time in PR!
