This hands-on cooking class teaches you to make tortillas, guacamole, salsas and tacos al pastor from scratch, all while sipping on refreshing mocktails or cocktails and sampling our favorite tequilas!
Cafe Jaguar is a five-minute taxi ride from the Costa Maya Cruise Ship port in the center of the downtown beach club and shopping boardwalk area. Your return transportation is by taxi so you can arrive early or stay after to enjoy the downtown beach and shopping area using our Cafe as a home base. There is free beach access for you to enjoy the beach before or after class.

When you arrive you can start by ordering your included drink at our cafe/bar area. Choose from our menu of unique fresh cocktails and mocktails, frappes, bubble teas, artisan sodas and coffee drinks. You will be entertained by our knowledgeable chefs and crew on cooking tips & techniques. We will make tortillas from scratch making the dough, using a tortilla press and cooking them on an authentic Mexican comal. We will also marinate pork , make salsas and guacamole and enjoy with freshly made tortilla chips and even sample tequilas! (If you prefer chicken breast, fish or a vegetarian option please let us know! )

5.00Getting out of the crowds from the port was our priority. Getting a taxi was challenging, but worth it with this crew of fun at the Cafe Jaguar! Will definitely do this again. Flor and Claudia made this such a great experience! They were so kind and patient with our questions and hands on part of the class. All of the staff was very kind to us and wanted us to enjoy our class. The bartender did a great job with our drinks and accommodated a special request for a spicy margarita which I highly recommend! We learned how to marinate the pork and we made kabobs with veggies. We made homemade guacamole and tortillas from scratch. Making the tortillas was the highlight of the class. We learned how to press them and make them by hand. A huge thank you to Claudia and Flor for making it such a fun thing to do in Costa Maya!!! When we come back we will definitely take another class with you!

5.00Great food experience, especially when there were so many cruise ships in port making all the usual tourist stops so crowded. Super friendly staff and the food (that we cooked ourselves!) was fantastic! They also have WiFi and beach access, so if you have some time before or after, plan accordingly. Highly recommend!

5.00This was the perfect way to experience Costa Maya, especially with a few large ships in the port which made all the usual tourist spots really crowded. The staff were super friendly and the food we cooked (ourselves!) was absolutely delicious! They also have WiFi and beach access, so if you have some time to kill before or after, plan accordingly. Highly recommend!!

5.00The coffee is the best in downtown. Amazing vibes and amazing staff, every cruise this is my go to. Services was quick but stayed for the people. Also they have Wifi and across from the cheapest massages on the walk.

5.00This review is for food and drink on the beach, not the cooking class. They have beach chairs and tables, available for no extra charge or surcharge. Beers are 50 pesos with a good selection. We had fish tacos (fried Baha-style), chicken tacos (chunks of chicken breast), and guacamole (seemed freshly-pounded). All were excellent! True highlight was the service: Digbee was hilarious and friendly, and everyone else left us really pleased that we had come here. Don't sleep on this place: there are dozens of spots on the Mahahual beach strip trying to rip you off in one way or another. This isn't one of them.
