Tholos of Athena Pronaia

The Tholos of Delphi is among the ancient structures of the Sanctuary of Athena Pronaia in Delphi. The circular temple, a tholos, shares the immediate site with other ancient foundations of the Temple of Athena Pronaia, all located less than a mile east of the main ruins at Delphi, in the modern Greek regional unit of Phocis. The tholos is part of the Delphi UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The trip to Delphi should be considered when visiting Athens. Although a bit of a trip, this World Heritage site offers a wonderful look into antiquity and Greek history. A wonderful museum awaits with a walk through the ancient ruins of Apollo, sitting amongst the beauty of the mountains. Paul. our private driver, was a great companion as we shared thoughts and knowledge of Ancient Greek history. He was very patient waiting for us to tour and have lunch after nearby.

All day, really means all day. It was a great experience. Excellent driver, thank you Bill! We made it to the top of the site and later enjoyed a fabulous lunch at a local tavern. The 2.5 + hour drive there and back allowed us to enjoy the beautiful countryside between Athens and Delphi.
