As you cycle through the town of Ikuno, you will experience a mining town with more than 1200 years of history. Take a moment and walk along the tracks of the mine carts that carried the ore at the time and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the rivers, shrines and nature. Learn how French engineers were involved in the development of the industrialization of the mining town and the first step towards the modernization of Japan. Ikuno is located at the Centre of Hyogo prefecture linking Tajima and Harima. The town includes the headstream of Maruyama River drifting to the Sea of Japan and Ichikawa River drifting to the Seto Inland Sea. In turn, it is the watershed of the north and the south of Hyogo prefecture. Additionally, as the legend goes, the opening of Ikuno silver mine was in the 2nd year of the Daido era (807). Furthermore, a magistrate's office was placed in Ikuno during the Edo era. Accordingly, the silver mine has been supporting the town's prosperity since a long time ago.

Such an amazing experience!! Kevin was a fantastic guide, he was easy to talk to and knew a lot about the history of the area we toured as well as Japan in general. The places he lead us were areas we probably wouldnt have thought of seeing by ourselves, so it was very helpful that he knew exactly where to go. He took beautiful pictures throughout the day of us and the scenery which was so thoughtful of him to do, now we have great memories we can look back on! I would highly recommend this activity, it felt like taking a tour with a good friend! Thank you for a wonderful time Kevin! - Karen and Logan

It had been a while since I last rode a bicycle, but with the electric assist it was easy and refreshing. As we toured the town of Ikuno, I was able to hear some fascinating stories from the local women at the Machizukuri Kobo and the director of Ikuno Shoin. Our guide, Yaku Daisuke, lives in the area and is familiar with the people there, so we naturally struck up a conversation, which led to me hearing some fascinating stories as well. This would have been difficult to do on my own, so I'm grateful that our guide helped me out.

I've had a great time on the trip. Kevin is a cool guy and great camera man. We also had delicious lunch and dessert (made by local people). It was nice to see true Japan and meet some old japanese people.

Asago Cycling prepared a great tour for my group. We could see local farms, houses, places of history, hear some local plots and eat local food. Bikes are top quality so we did not even feel tired even after 6 hours. The atmosphere was very friendly and unofficial. It is totally different than trips in groups of 20 people where you have a tight schedule. If you want to see how villages looks like in an peaceful trip where you are in control of your travel this is very good option to go.

There are many authentic Japanese scenery here. It's quiet and you can hear the chirping of birds and feel refreshed. The guide was kind and made the trip safe and secure. I met a unique scenery and life, and he also explained it.

I had an absolute blast on this tour travelling around the picturesque scenery of rural Hyogo with a great bunch of people! The area was absolutely stunning and great for landscape photography lovers! I was also surprised at how easy (and comfortable!) the e-bikes were to use. Our hosts were also kind, patient and very informative. Not only all of this, but I met some equally fantastic people on the tour too. Could not recommend enough!
