Learn about the alleys where the 17th century people lived in the city of Edinburgh, but especially how they died during the Black Death, and the doctors who tried to cure them with bird masks.
Dicover about corpses, but about the black market of corpses from the 19th century and serial killers, William Burke and William Hare. We will visit Old Calton Cemetery and Canongate Kirkyard.
We will also show you some nice views across Edinburgh whilst talking about a particularly dark chapter in the city’s history, the burning of witches and warlocks , and we will see if any of those who do this tour would have ended up on those bonfires.

5.00We did the tour on the 05th November and Ignas was great. It was really informative and we both really enjoyed it. The only thing I would suggest it would be nice to end the tour where we started.

4.00After initial confusion over meeting point we joined the tour about 5mins in. From there on, despite wet weather, the guide was excellent and knowledgeable. We were tempted to sneak away because of the weather but persevered and were enthralled as the tour continued and became darker. Greyfriars churchyard was really creepy in the dark, should have thought to take a torch. The last drop might be a double entendre??

5.00Great tour! Was very interesting and entertaining. More stories about how people lived in Edinburgh back in the day and how macabre that time was but also some ghost stories. We enjoyed the mixture of history and ghost stories about the dark parts of the City! Gavin was a really good guide! Lovely Scottish accent but still so good to understand and just lovely to be around! Thanks so much!
