The Alhambra
On a rocky hill that is difficult to access, on the banks of the River Darro, protected by mountains and surrounded by woods, among the oldest quarters in the city, the Alhambra rises up like an imposing castle with reddish tones in its ramparts that prevent the outside world from seeing the delicate beauty they enclose. Originally designed as a military area, the Alhambra became the residence of royalty and of the court of Granada in the middle of the thirteenth century, after the establishment of the Nasrid kingdom and the construction of the first palace, by the founder King Mohammed ibn Yusuf Ben Nasr, better known as Alhamar. The fortress became a citadel with high ramparts and defensive towers, which house two main areas: the military area, or Alcazaba, the barracks of the royal guard, and the medina or court city, the location of the famous Nasrid Palaces and the remains of the houses of noblemen and plebeians who lived there.
Alcazaba
The Alcazaba plainly served a military function. The entrance to the Alcazaba was at the foot of the Tower of Homage . At the base of the tower is a slight slope. A simple L-shaped walkway keeps the main gate from being seen from the outside.

I had a fantastic day trip to Granada to visit the Alhambra. The site itself is absolutely stunning, full of rich history, intricate architecture, and breathtaking views. It’s truly a must see if you’re in the south of Spain. Our guide, Andrea, was amazing! She was kind, knowledgeable, and went out of her way to accommodate everyone in the group, making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to explore one of Spain’s most iconic landmarks.

Alhambra is truly a must see! Amazing grounds and incredible palace! Our guide in Alhambra, Antonio, was excellent! Very nice and very informative. He had to interpret in English and separately in Spanish. Ideally, we would have separate Interpreters for each language. Daniella, who was our guide on the bus and in Albanian, was good as well

The entire day was filled with joy and beauty. I met some amazing people on my day trip, the coach driver, the host Gabriella was incredible, so warm and inviting. The timings were perfect, the stop station was half-way through the journey to Granada and although an expensive stop, it was nice to stop for a toilet break and some fresh air. The Granada tour guide had excellent knowledge of the history and answered all questions well, including with historical dates and context. Granada is well worth visiting and the information shared makes it a place you will NEVER forget. It is breathtakingly beautiful, in fact I already decided I would definitely return and spend some nights there. We got back to Seville in good time and everyone agreed it really was something special. Book this day trip, honestly you will not be disappointed.

Very interesting, stunning place! Seville is 3 and a half hours to Granada. It's worth going, even with that distance

10/10 recommend this tour! Petra was our guide for the whole day and Antonio was our guide in Alhambra. Petra was so clear, enthusiastic, helpful and friendly. Antonio was also so kind and knowledgable. It's a 3-hour trip each way from Seville but definitely worth it!!
