I would have been happy with seeing Port Arthur and Isle of the dead, but this tour offered so much more. So I booked with great enthusiasm. However, I think the organizers were over ambitious in the planning. There was too much packed into a short amount of time. So everything was rushed. It didn’t help that some people arrived 25 minutes late for the start of the tour and the driver had to wait for them. He did his best to make up the time by skipping one stop. And to be honest, I didn’t even miss it. As stated on the itinerary, all of the stops (except for Port Arthur) were 15 minutes long. And while it fit the schedule, it felt rushed and would have been more enjoyable if they were a little longer. The biggest disappointment was when we arrived at Port Arthur. We had 55 minutes to see the entire site, before the scheduled Harbor Tour and Isle of the Dead Tour. We literally rushed to the buildings we were most interested in skipping the rest and ate our homemade sandwiches as we walked. The harbor tour was okay, but we really enjoyed the Isle of the Dead tour and thought the guide was knowledgeable and engaging. After the harbor tour we returned to Port Arthur site to see a little more, but it was again rushed, as we then needed to board the bus to drive to the Remarkable Cave, then go back to pick up the people who didn’t go to the cave and then to the chocolate store, (which was okay, but not great). The driver/guide was knowledgeable and provided interesting information about sites and he did a good job of keeping us on the very tight schedule.

The driver is knowledgeable and friendly. However we have to change bus due to mechanical problem, which caused delays. I guess it is the operator’s responsibility to make sure the bus roadworthy. It should not be taken granted as something beyond control.

Absolutely worth time and money. Our driver Allan was fun and full of knowledge. The trip to remarkable cave was awesome and the chocolate foundry visit was a highlight.
