Our Grand Port Arthur Tour is suitable for the whole family, with plenty of time to explore at your own pace. Includes a relaxing, scenic cruise on Carnarvon Bay, where you'll be entertained and informed with the 1-hour guided walking tour on the Isle of the Dead. Formerly a convict site this now UNESCO world heritage listed site is bursting with history and today boasts a landscape of natural beauty, scenic ruins and restored buildings. Our driver/guide will be on hand throughout the day to provide additional information about this fascinating site and to ensure your time is well spent. Lunch and refreshments can be purchased on site or you are welcome to bring your own. Join the optional free Remarkable Caves tour and enjoy a visit on our return to Hobart at the Chocolate Foundry.

5.00Absolutely worth time and money. Our driver Allan was fun and full of knowledge. The trip to remarkable cave was awesome and the chocolate foundry visit was a highlight.

5.00My mom really appreciated how staff at port arthur had options to get her around this historical site. She found the boat trip and mini tour of the isle of the dead enlighting. I was able to explore a bit on my own and take advantage of visiting the remarkable cave while my mom had her own experience.

5.00Lots better go to Port Arthur wt the toir.. so you wont miss the view otw there, plus the guide was great. He told us lots of history n story otw to PA.

5.00It is a huge site so you have to be able to walk everywhere. I have mobility issues but luckily small shuttle buses will take you to different parts of the site. I found the time there allowed me to enjoy the boat cruise and tour of Dead Island. Very informative guide made this well worthwhile. I explored the main prison are but missed having a guide. The courts and guard house were also nearby. I then needed a break so got shuttle to the New Gaol and Asylum where there is a cafe. Both these sites are very informative and reflect changing ideas about incarceration. The other civilian houses are very pretty now. I also visited the Memorial area. More sombre and reflective feel behind the hedge. I felt I needed a second day to really learn about the site but focusing on key parts made it a very satisfying experience for me. The stops and commentary along the way were excellent and I learned a lot about Tasmania’s past and present.
