We had very nice time with Samira who was our guide during a 5-hour tour around Alexandria main points of interest.

Unfortunately, our experience with this tour was disappointing. Our guide seemed disinterested and disengaged throughout the day, which made it difficult to enjoy the sites we were so excited to visit. We began at the Alexandria Library, which I was especially looking forward to as a history lover. However, we were quickly taken to the top for photos and then told to “meet in the front,” with no clear instructions on whether she meant inside or outside. We ended up losing her, which was incredibly frustrating. At the catacombs, we only had a brief walkthrough. Some of my family noticed other tour groups exploring additional areas, and after tagging along briefly, we realized we missed out on some amazing parts of the site. Whenever we asked questions, our guide gave very short, sometimes vague responses and didn’t appear particularly knowledgeable or enthusiastic. The only moment she seemed more engaged was after we tipped her—she then assisted us in finding a local dessert we were looking for. In contrast to other guides we had in Egypt, neither she nor our driver made any effort to shield us from aggressive hagglers. In fact, our driver moved aside to let one enter our van, even opening the front passenger door where my husband was seated so the seller could try to pitch her products. Overall, much of the tour felt like a series of photo stops, with minimal context or historical information. At one of the ruins, she walked us only to the entrance; if we hadn’t taken the initiative to explore on our own, we would have missed a lot. It also felt like she was rushing through the day, repeatedly citing the early closing times due to Ramadan, even though we noticed there was still plenty of time. This experience fell far short of our expectations, especially compared to the other wonderful guides we had elsewhere in Egypt. We left feeling disappointed and like we missed out on what could have been a rich, memorable day.

It was hard to find a tour to Alexandria so I went with this company. 1 the driver picked us up on time was very nice but didn t speak any English so we went almost three hours with no info of anything we pass by on the way. 2 we got to Alexandria and the tour guide was late for 10 min. She was nice but speak limited English so it was hard to understand her. She came inside with us with the touristic sites explained 5-10 minutes and left to the exit to wait for us there. I had to look up in the internet for the history of the places. 3 Alexandria library is new the old one was destroyed The lighthouse it’s gone too. They have a citadel now in there. 4 lunch was not included so she asked us for cash to pay for lunch. She said we have to pay in cash for lunch no credit card. But the restaurant did accept credit cards when we went. 4 if you really really want to visit this is an okay tour Iguess to get there. Just don’t expect to learn much of Alexandria. The tour guide never stayed with us for more than 10 min. Everything was rushed

This was a great experience! Our driver was waiting for us 10 minutes before the start time outside the hotel. His English was limited but communication went great using Google translate, no problem there. Really friendly and an excellent driver. The tour operator was also on top of things and very reachable via WhatsApp. Most important tip: use the official website of Egypt monuments to book tickets for the citadel. We arrived and saw a huge line waiting for tickets. We opened the website on our phone, booked the tickets right there, paid online and walked inside within a couple of minutes! People waiting in line did not seem happy to see us get in so fast 😝 We had a problem at the start, as the tourist police outside of our hotel refused to let us go. I don't know if the tour company had not arranged our trip with the tourist police (I think this is mandatory for tourists in Egypt), or if the police guy wanted a bribe (not uncommon here). Anyway, the receptionist of the hotel helped sort it out and explained to us what was happening. We left 30 minutes later than planned but that is ok, we made up the time in Alexandria. We did not book a guide or tickets in advance. The guide would have been useful at the catacombs and the amphitheater, we ended up following some other tours at the site and overheard very interesting facts, so in retrospect I recommend getting a guide. At the citadel, the guards or the cleaning personnel may start showing things to you. That is very common in every temple we visited in Egypt, of course they expect a tip at the end. In other sites we said no but here it was actually useful, because we didn't want to waste time getting lost or googling things around the building (it's a maze), so having the guard giving us a small tour was nice, for 50 EGP! Also he had a gun and I was a bit afraid to say no! 😂 I loved that we could customize the tour! There were some things I wanted to see in Alexandria that are not highlights, but are important sites for Greek people (which my partner is), and the driver was very willing to add them to the schedule.
