We will arrange for your pickup either from your hotel in the Old Quarter or our designated MEETING POINT. You will be transported to the outskirts of Hanoi in a comfortable minivan or car, which takes around 30 minutes to escape the bustling city. Once we reach the village, our Hanoi Countryside Sidecar Tour begins, allowing you to explore the authentic countryside that is rarely visited by tourists. This is a unique opportunity to witness the daily lives of local people. Encounter local farmers at work on the rice paddies, vegetable and flower farms, orchards, and bonsai gardens, as well as livestock and cattle such as water buffaloes, ducks, and chickens farms. It offers a contrasting experience to the hustle and bustle of city life and provides a truly eye-opening perspective.
Co Loa Citadel
Our main destination for the day is the Co Loa ancient citadel. This historic site dates back to 280 BC and offers a captivating insight into Vietnamese culture, history, and mythology through its well-preserved architecture. Additionally, we delve deep into the traditional way of life in rural Hanoi with activities such as wet rice farming, exploring local farmer markets, and witnessing the production of handicrafts. Co Loa village is like a living museum, presenting the essence of Vietnamese culture and daily life. We conclude our incredible day with a meal at a local family’s home, enjoying an authentic Vietnamese meal. Here, we have the opportunity to indulge in authentic Vietnamese cuisine and forge a meaningful connection with the local culture.

5.00Huy and Manh were wonderful tour guides. Very safe drivers, we stepped into the country side to see how agriculture has been done for generations. We were lucky to be going past a roadside market today too. We had a beautiful lunch at An's House, also a beautiful coffee shop. Our meal was organic fresh vegetables, tofu, spring rolls. Feel privileged to be welcomed into the host's home for lunch. Thank you, highly recommend.

5.00Our tour guy Mr Huy is very informative & He is able to connect with us by answering our enquiries to understand the culture & people of Vietnam & Hanoi. He is very knowledgeable about Vietnam. I would highly recommend him for any future tours that are available for him to conduct. His tour conducted is so different from the ordinary one as we got to experience visiting the village farming, & having lunch at the home of one of the family in the village. Great experience, so welcoming by the he host.

5.00This was our second tour with Hanoi Backstreet Tours, and it was just as memorable as the first. This countryside tour gave us a deeper look into local village life, far beyond the usual tourist spots. Riding in the Vespa sidecar made the experience even more fun and immersive — almost like travelling through a living museum. Our guide, Huy, was fantastic. He shared stories and insights with genuine passion, and the pacing of the trip was comfortable, especially since we were travelling with family. Breathing in the fresh countryside air was such a refreshing change from the gasoline-filled streets of the Old Quarter! Lunch at An House was another highlight — delicious food served in a calm, beautiful setting.

I highly recommend them if you want to have an organic experience And then to have the most amasing lunch cooked for us by our beatiful host Giang, cooking the freshest food paddock to plate. 5.00This is the best experience anyone can wish for. It's a must to do. Huy and Quang were the best guides, so informative and went out of their way to make this the best experience. Lunch at a local house with Giang as host, food amazing all organic. Again went the extra mule to have a birthday cake for us to celebrate. 5 star raiting should be 10 star rating. Absolutely perfect thanks you so much.

5.00My tour of Hanoi with Lewis and his team was absolutely fantastic. Lewis was knowledgeable, friendly, and made the whole experience safe and enjoyable. My driver was also fantastic — very skilled on the roads and very attentive. We visited amazing places that I would never have discovered on my own, and the whole experience was a highlight of my trip. Highly recommend everyone!

5.00The trip was fantastic. The guide Louis was very friendly and knowledgeable. The driver and the boys were very enthusiastic. Our three boys (ages 14, 12, 11) loved it. We always felt completely safe on the back of the vespa and motorbike. The farm tour was very interesting and we learned about agriculture in Vietnam. The king temple and coconut water were a new experience. The lunch at the local family home was also fantastic. Well worth a try.

5.00I would recommend this tour for a fun half day. It was great to get out of the city and enjoy the views and the cool morning air. Our guides Louis and Manh made us feel safe and we had a lot of laughs. We also enjoyed a wonderful homemade lunch where we met a warm family.
Try it, you won't regret it!
