This private day tour takes you to visit both Guyaju Cave Dwellings and Longqingxia Gorge in Beijing. You will be able to see 174 amazing caves in Guyaju, which were reportedly carved by an ethnic minority called the Xiyi during the Tang dynasty (618-907 AD). Most of the caves are bunched together in two rock face villages, resembling ant farms for humans. In addition, take a fun boat ride in beautiful Longqing Gorge where you will see clear waters, wooded mountains, curious stones and wonderful karst caves. Lunch, entrance fees, private guide and driver service are all inclusive.

Longqing Gorge

After morning pickup at your Beijing hotel, travel in a private vehicle to the Longqing Gorge (Longqingxia Gorge), located about 55 miles (90 km) north of downtown Beijing. Flanked on both sides by green peaks and capped to the north by the Gucheng Reservoir, built in 1981, the gorge offers peaceful yet dramatic scenery of wooded mountains, curious stones, and karst caves. During a 1.5-hour cruise through the ravine, feel the gentle breeze blowing against your face and enjoy the view of passing attractions like Baihua (Hundred Flowers) Cave and the Shenxianyuan (Immortal) and Jingang temples.

Guyaju Caves

After the morning boat ride, enjoy a lunch of regional cuisine at a famer's house. Continue on to the Guyaju caves, a multi-village complex of more than 170 dwellings carved directly into the rock face. Believed to have been carved by an ethnic minority called the Xiyi between the Tang and Liao Dynasties, the remarkable caves resemble 'ant farms for humans' and consist of rooms of varying shapes and styles complete with doors, windows, kitchen ranges, and closets. After the full-day tour is finished, you will be transferred back to your hotel in downtown Beijing.

Fantastic tour away from the busy Beijing traffic. Our English speaking guide Jeffery (Mr Lou) and driver Mr Sun were excellent. We were very happy with the boat trip in Longqingxia gorge. The Krast mountains scenery is absolutely awesome. The relics of Guyana caves were also very interesting. Jeffery was very polite and answered all our questions. The food provided was good at a nice restaurant. The drive was very comfortable and smooth, as each way was roughly two hours. The car was clean and spacious and even had phone charging outlets. I would highly recommend this tour and should be on the must do list in Beijing.

Beautiful place but a bit far journey out of Beijing. Nonetheless a good scenery trip to take a break out of the city! The tour guide Daisy and driver is helpful and friendly. Lunch is sumptuous at a local restaurant.

The entire day was a welcomed break from the hectic pace of Beijing! Linda was a truly fantastic guide a warm person. She made sure we had a “ local experience” from a “step-by-step” history of the area to a great lunch at a local eatery.

Wonderful day trip out of Beijing with May & her driver from Lilies Tour. Picked us up at our hotel & on our the way to the gorge gave us some history about Beijing & China. May spoke very good English, was personable, & informative. The caves were really interesting & a nice view from the top of the hill. Thank you May & your driver. Sara Leigh & Marty
