Literary Quarter (Barrio de Las Letras)
Stop at one of Madrid´s first hardware stores that has kept its original decore for over 100 years. Nowadays this restaurant portrays the personality of that hardware store while serving delicious and high end lunches, dinners, tapas and wines. Here we will try the world famous Croqueta and a perfectly paired glass of wine. As we move out of the restaurant, an introduction of the neighborhood divide by calle Atocha, one of Madrid´s central streets.

I highly recommend this tapas/wine tour led by Diego who curated a wonderful mix of 4 uniquely different stops for tapas and wines. We met at the Cooking Club where we met our group and started with a glass of wine. We walked a neighborhood that we loved and we probably would not have noticed or appreciated, if not for tour. And the finish was a lovely dinner prepared by Diego. Loved every minute and will be recommending to others.

If you love food and want to learn more about traditional Spanish tapas—and some updated versions—this is a MUST! Even though this a walking tour, you stay in a four-block area, so it’s accessible to a wide range of participants. Especially memorable is Ferretia, a former hardware store. (While the tasting happens on the main floor, there’s an absolutely incredible restaurant and event space downstairs. You must check it out, if possible.) After posting pictures on Instagram, we learned that friends and former colleagues had done this tour previously. Everyone rated it most highly. A highlight of our time in Spain!

Amazing experience where everyone starts off as strangers and leaves as friends. We have done several tapas tours and this is the best by far.
