Mikumi National Park

Mikumi National Park lies alongside the Northern border of Africa's biggest Game Reserve - the SELOUS – forming a unique ecosystem. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain, the fashionable centrepiece of Mikumi, draw frequent comparisons to the more famous Serengeti Plains. Some spotted lions survey their grassy kingdom, and the Zebra, Giraffes, Elephants, Wildebeest, Impala, and Buffalo herds migrate across the park. This tour starts from Zanzibar airport at 07h00 and arrives at Mikumi Airstrip at 08h00, received by our safari guide. Directly you will start a safari game drive touring the game-rich area of Mkata plains. The plain is very famous for its concentrations of wildlife. Also, visiting the famous Hippo pool whereby many come to drink water. Hot lunch during lunchtime then proceeds with your journey exploring the African bushes before returning to the airstrip at around 15h30 for your flight back to Zanzibar.

My son and I (9 years old) went together for a 1 day safari from Zanzibar. It was a great adventure. Everything is well organized (flight, cars, photos, beverages in cars). The crew (drivers and photographer) are really experienced. We managed to see all the animals that we could see (giraffe, elephants, zebras, lions, buffalo, boar and hippo). On top of that our guide was giving interesting talks all the time about the park and wildlife.

What an amazing day! We saw so many different animals and the guides were exceptional. Everything worked so smooth. Can highly recommend this for people staying in Zanzibar and looking for safari! Nothing to improve.

The French-speaking guide is a real plus, it has provided a lot of explanations, which is very pleasant. During the day, we had the chance to see many animals: zebras, giraffes, lionesses, elephants... I think for a full-day Safari it’s good but there are more beautiful landscapes in other parks. I was shocked by the hippo pool which offers them little space and is not natural. And lunch is not qualitative.

Full day safari in Mikumi Park we loved, our French guide was top! We saw the lions, elephants, zebras, buffalo, giraffes, crocodiles, hippos, gazelles,... Jeep ride, good meal! That was great! A childhood dream!

In the description it was unclear whether Transfer&Flights were included - yes they are! We were picked up from Paje at 4.45am and were back around 7.00pm. The day trip was very worth it and it was a really great experience. Attention: You fly to Mikumi on a 12-seat propeller plane. We have seen zebras, lions, giraffes, buffaloes, hippos, antelopes, wild boars and wildebeest. At the beginning you get the impression you are in a kind of zoo with signs, but after about 20min you really drive into the wilderness. We felt very well looked after and it was all very well organized 👍🏼👍🏼
