This is a unique opportunity to visit the home of a local and explore traditional Puerto Rican culture and cuisine. Tony is a warm and gracious host who loves cooking because he loves to eat! A Johnson and Wales trained chef, Tony was born and raised in San Juan. After spending many years in New York, he decided to return to his home country to share his Puerto Rican food, culture and the beauty of the historic home he owns. Tony hosts a hands-on cooking class at his B&B, an architectural gem exquisitely decorated in the center of San German built in 1912. Learn cooking techniques and traditional Puerto Rican cultural traditions with a charming and talented Puerto Rican chef!

Begin your Puerto Rican culinary journey with a cocktail and a tour of Tony's Victorian Creole home (and B&B). What makes Tony's home special are the walls adorned with original art nouveau paintings from 1912. It might be the only home in the region with original paintings from handmade stencils on wood. Next, join Tony in his kitchen for your Puerto Rican cooking class with a modern twist on traditional Puerto Rican cuisine. You will learn to cook three seasonal Puerto Rican dishes with locally sourced ingredients from Tony's garden or the local markets. Some of the dishes you might learn to cook are rice fritters with a creative guava sauce, a traditional stew or chayote escabeche, a local squash packed with antioxidants marinated in citrus and olive oil. Please note this is only a sample menu - Tony likes to cook based on what's fresh in the market and is happy to customize a menu for you. After cooking, enjoy your meal on the terrace with a view of the garden (weather permitting) or at the main dining area with a glass of sangria or beer. Please note that your meal may be supplemented with additional dishes that Tony has prepared in advance.

5.00I cannot rave enough about our PR Cooking Class in Tony's beautifully restored historic B&B. We felt so welcomed! Tony is warm, charming, and funny. Some of us cooked with him and others chose to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The food was next level delicious—real PR flavors and recipes, as I had requested in advance. We had the loveliest evening and couldn't stop talking about it for days. It was my husband's favorite part of our trip. Don't hesitate to book this!! A unique and unforgettable experience.

5.00Cooking with Tony was a delightful experience! Not only did we get to help prepare and cook several PR dishes, but Tony gave us background about the dishes as well as the herbs and spices that we used. And the food we cooked was delicious. Now if I can only recreate some of them. Tony also gave us a tour of the B&B which is a beautifully maintained home. It would be great to stay there if I were in PR again.

5.00We had a beautiful lunch with Tony at his historic bed-and-breakfast. He made us authentic Puerto Rican food and showed us all about different spices, and techniques for cooking. We were able to get in the kitchen and do hands-on prep and cooking. Lots of good suggestions and very informative on historical area of San Germane. He went above and beyond making a salad and dessert that we did not ask for. Very accommodating and well worth the price.
