For the bike tour, you will start from Bay City Bike Store at 2661 Taylor St, San Francisco, CA 94133, where you'll receive your bike and begin your journey towards the bridge. 2.00After waiting at the allocated pick up point for 20 minutes, and sending a message to the operator to ask if I was in the right place, I was eventually told that they wouldn’t be coming to my pick up point on that day. To their credit, they had apparently tried to call me to notify me of this but I’m an international visitor and my phone isn’t working here. I do feel they could have tried the various other methods for communication - eg my email address or through Viator platform, and/or not letting me book that pick up point in the first place. I was issued a refund, so am grateful for that, but it did mean that I wasn’t able to see Muir Woods on my visit to SF. Would recommend not using this company unless you have a fully functioning phone in the US!
Redwoods during govt shutdown

5.00We knew from other travelers that were on a tour with Gray Line that they substituted Armstrong Redwwod Preserve for Muir Woods when it was closed during govt shutdown. We were thrilled even though it is much further. Other tours just cancelled and if we were going to be in area once in our life we wanted to see the trees

3.00I have used Viator for many adventures and have always been satisfied. However this one left me a bit unhappy. First off I received an email a few days before letting us know that due to a festival in town we needed to switch our pick up location. I was fine with that because I was told in advance. Next, when we got on the bus the driver told us that due to the government shutdown Muir Woods is closed and we would be going to Armstrong woods which is about an hour and half away. I would have appreciated knowing this in advance and then been given a choice to cancel. We spent more time on the bus than at the woods. We were also supposed to have an hour and a half at Muir Woods, but due to the change we were only given one hour. I appreciate that the tour company found an alternative to Muir Woods, however it was not the experience I originally paid for therefore I probably would have requested a refund if given the option.

1.00Muir Woods was closed on the day of the tour, something the company knew beforehand but we didn't. Because of this, the tour went to another place called Armstrong Redwoods that was further away. This meant that the tour would end a lot later than the advertised time. We had the option to cancel and get a refund or accept the new schedule. The problem was that this information was given moments before the tour bus was going to leave, so we had JUST A FEW SECONDS to decide what option to take. It was very unprofessional of the company to not let us know about this as soon as the Muir Woods shutdown was announced (several days before) to allow the guests enough time to consider the situation and make a decision. About the tour itself: the Golden Gate Bridge and Armstrong Redwoods stops were nice, but, since the Armstrong Redwoods were a lot further away than Muir, we arrived at Sausalito very hungry and had to have lunch there, which meant that we couldn't get to know the town because the stop was only one hour long. This last fact (that we would have to spend most of the free time in Sausalito having lunch) wasn't explained when they announced the consequences of the shutdown. When things don't go according to plan, the company not only has to make alternative arrangements, it also has to communicate with its guests in a timely manner. This is were the company failed terribly.

1.00We were supposed to have a tour going to Muir Woods and Sausalito. We were SUPPOSED to have 90 minutes in Muir Woods and 60 minutes in Sausalito. Not until after we were in the bus and driving away were we told we would be taking a 2 hour drive (one way) to spend 60 minutes in Armstrong Park. (Muir Woods is about a 50 minute drive). Nobody was told this until we were already underway. Everyone thought we would be eating around 1:30 in Sausalito. Nobody had food and there was no food or water at Armstrong park. We were all very hungry. We arrived in Sausalito and had little time before we needed to get on the ferry back. Very disappointing, especially considering the high cost of this excursion.
