5.00I did this tour nearly 20 years ago back in 2007, and coming back to Scotland and getting to do it again was absolutely worth it! My guide was excellent, and the tour spooky and fun! I certainly had a few chillings experiences down in the catacombs on both tours! All in all I highly recommend it to anyone who loves dark, morbid history, and great ghost stories! Though it's not for the faint of heart! 20 years did not dull my enjoyment of this tour, it was as good then as it is today.
A must do in Edinburgh!

5.00My family and I (5 of us) joined the Edinburgh: After Dark Ghostly Night Walking Tour, and it exceeded all expectations! At only £29 per person and lasting around 2 hours, it was fantastic value. Our tour guide, Neave, was incredible. She’s exceptionally talented at telling gruesome torture stories and ghost tales in a way that’s both captivating and chilling. She balanced the scary atmosphere with humor and friendliness, making the whole experience engaging and fun. The group size was perfect — not overcrowded, so you could really soak in the eerie ambience and ask questions freely. Walking through the underground vaults was genuinely spooky and gave us all goosebumps. The experience was wonderfully interactive and full of fascinating historical insights. The pub stop was an highlight. The atmosphere was amazing, and the whisky was absolutely delicious — definitely worth trying! Non-alcoholic drink (Irn Bru) is available! If you’re a ghost or true crime/serial killer story lover like me, this tour is an absolute must-go. We’re already planning to go back the next time we’re in Edinburgh. A big shoutout to Neave for making the night unforgettable!

5.00I took my 7 year old son on the 5pm ghost tour; Jude was an excellent guide pitching the tour at just the right level of gruesome and spooky without being overly scary. The vaults were fabulous, with the stories adding to their haunting quality. Would definitely recommend.

5.00My boyfriend and I had the best time on our Halloween tour lead by michael. Michael just made the experience perfect - he’s such a great storyteller and so personable! He greeted us right away and got us excited for the night. The tour itself was super historically interesting, and perfectly spooky. My boyfriend can be a tough cookie to impress (& he’s Scottish! I’m american) but he had a great time too. Just a heads up that there will probably be quite a few kids on your tour (we didn’t mind) and also that the vaults are dusty so be cautious if you have asthma! Overall I’d love to do another tour with Mercat and michael. 👻
