This is easily our goriest, most graphic and spine-chilling Edinburgh ghost tour, where we take you on a dark and eerie journey through Old Town’s sinister wynds and closes before descending into the haunted Blair Street Underground Vaults.

We met at the appointed time at Mercat square. The guides and organisers do a super job of coordinating all visitors. I am in Edinburgh with my teenage daughter for a Halloween holiday. Our tour guide was Neave, right from the get go she was excellent and made the tour very engaging with her style of evoking the history of the locations we visited. The underground element is fascinating.myself and my daughter really enjoyed it and I am still imagining life in those vaults a couple of days later. Thanks Neave and all at Mercat.

Absolutely fantastic experience would 100% go with mercat again. Michael was an outstanding guide, charismatic and very engaging! The price was very fair for the tour and wouldn't hesitate to book again. We had a great time and loved all the tales, we had a lovely time even with my other half being a sceptic, even he walked away very pleased with the experience.
Wonderful tour, highly recommend!

Jack did a wonderful job telling the stories of times we’ve never known. He is the perfect guide! The vaults were actually quite haunted so the experience is really one to remember!

We loved the theatrics of our walk with Jade. She put a lot into each story and her pauses for reflection made it even spookier.

Michael was an amazing storyteller and very knowledgeable about the history of Edinburgh city's dark and exciting past. From beginning to end he kept you engaged. For people with mobility issues it is trying as there is uneven paths , steep stairs, and vaults have uneven flooring. That said if you can endure a little discomfort, well worth it. The sram at the end...makes all right with the world!!

I booked the hidden and haunted tour and got to experience a lovely and amusing time with Michael. He is such a vivid storyteller and I am glad I got to take this tour my first time in Edinburgh. I recommend it to those who enjoy the spooky and immerse storytelling.

Our guide, Michael, was a real character—engaging, entertaining, and full of knowledge. He brought the stories to life with humor, drama, and just the right amount of spookiness. We loved every minute of the experience. It was fascinating to learn about the darker side of Edinburgh’s history, hear local superstitions, and explore the hidden underground vaults, which added an extra layer of mystery and atmosphere. This tour was everything we hoped for and more—informative, eerie, and lots of fun. A huge thank you to Michael for making it so memorable. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Edinburgh! 10/10 experience!
