Great experience definitely worth doing! Anti Nausea meds are recommended along with a water proof pouch, sunscreen, easy to remove and put on shoes. Nono and Cannon were AMAZING, loved their music, info and all their personalities!! Give them a shout if you are looking for great entertainment.

Let me caveat this by saying that the check in process was easy, the captain and first mate were great and everyone was friendly. What I did not like about this tour was that I was completely unprepared for how rough the seas would be. We had 8 foot swells which the captain said was a good day so I can’t imagine a bad one. While they tell you upfront not to join if you’re pregnant or have back problems, I had no idea how rough this would get. I’ve been on many boats and have gone deep sea fishing in rough waters but I have never experienced anything like this, I got seasick for the first time in my life. It was pretty miserable and I wasn’t alone. Four out of twenty of us got sick which seems a high statistic and while they have a bucket system there was no ginger drops or rubbing alcohol just “oh another one needs a bucket”. If it’s that common they should warn people or consider whether to go out at all. I never even get motion sickness so this was very unusual for me. The coast is beautiful, but I would highly recommend taking a helicopter there. Many people on our boat were on the tour because the helicopters had been canceled the last couple of days. The other thing was that the snorkeling was nothing special. The water was super choppy and therefore not much visibility, there were three other boats stationed nearby which we were told to avoid as well as the reef, the rocks, and the back of the boat so it was a very small space for 20 people to snorkel around. There wasn’t much to see and it wasn’t very vibrant compared to snorkeling I’ve done elsewhere in Hawaii. I expected since we were going to a place that could only be accessible by boat or helicopter that the snorkeling would be great but it wasn’t. Granted still feeling sick probably did not help my frame of mind by that point. Overall, I did not think it was worth it.

Best boat trip along the coast! Great commentary and they take you right up to it. If you get motion sickness, SIT IN THE BACK! Still has a great view from back there. Cannon and Ryan were great and made the tour very exciting and fun.

The crew were amazing! Ryan kept our boat on course despite some big waves and rain. Jeff spent half the trip dumping out vomit buckets as almost everyone got sick at some point. But if you're not prone to seasickness, the views were great, they use a calm spot for snorkeling if the weather up north is bad, and snacks and basic drinks were available in plenty to munch while you ride. Definitely recommend the trip, but it's probably better in the summer.

A great way to see the parts of the Na Pali coast that are not accessible on the Catamaran. For example our awesome driver, CJ, and his trusty mate, Max, took us in to the sea caves and waterfall. It can be pretty bumpy as the speedboat is fast, so not for everyone- in fact we had to return an elderly passenger to shore after the snorkel stop. Not a dinner cruise, just plenty of soft drinks and a couple of basic snacks but we were very well cared for. Not much sun cover on the vessel, so slip slop slap!

This was a trip of a lifetime. We were super fortunate with the weather and amazing crew (Nono and Canon). We were able to see dolphins and go all the way up the coast. Snorkeling was an absolute blast and the swell was so calm!

My husband and I came to Kauai for my 40th birthday and everyone recommended seeing the Napali coast. I get motion sickness, but was hopeful that being closer to the water on the raft would help me manage. It went fine for the first 30-45 minutes - a nice calm ride out. We saw a huge pod of dolphins, which was incredible. The babies were flipping out of the water. Once we got around to the Napali coast, things got wild and I got so sick. My husband (non-puker) got some great pictures when he wasn’t tending to me. The first mate Cannon assured me that “you’re gonna be okay” and would share “five more minutes here” as updates along the way. It truly was other-worldly, and am glad I did it (once). The guys were very kind as I was sick a lot of the ride. If you get motion sickness, I would just plan on getting sick on this boat.

We took Captain J’s Na Pali Coast Snorkel Tour, and it was truly the adventure of a lifetime. Landon was our captain and Mason his assistant—both incredibly professional, funny, and knowledgeable. They kept us entertained and comfortable throughout the 4–5 hour journey along the stunning Na Pali Coast. Safety was always their top priority, yet they made sure everyone had the absolute best time possible. The playlist on board added even more magic to the experience. The snorkeling was the best my wife and I have ever experienced, and we’ve been on dozens of snorkeling trips over the years. If you’re visiting Kauai, don’t leave without joining Captain J’s Na Pali Coast tour—you’ll remember it forever!
